remember??

does anyone remember this show?? i used to watch it back in the day on a canadian station YTV. i never remembered what it was called tho..this is so great! lol

reply

I remember watching this show but since its been freakin YEARS I remember little to nothing about the specifics of it. It was one of the better "power ranger clones" that came out in the mid/late 90's. I just rememebr thinking the middle lawrence brother had lost his mind letting himself get cast in it seemed like a waste of his talent but in hindsight he was one of the few things that made the show watchable

reply

i just barely remember watching this show. i think i only remember it cause matthew lawrence was in it.

"its violent and educational, but mostly violent. YAY VIOLENCE!"

I forgot all about this show until Will Friedle said something to Matthew Lawrence about it on the Boy Meets World Season One commentary. I used to love the show when I was a kid, I even remember in 4th grade telling my friends that I didn't get some toy from the show for Christmas and they had no clue what I was talking about. I think it's time to fire up Kazaa to see if I can find any old episodes...

reply

If you're lucky, you might be able to find them on video or maybe even DVD. I was lucky enough to find three of them at a flea market about a year back. They were "To Servo and Protect", "A Skorn in their Side", and "The Glitch that Stole Christmas". Unfortunately I think those were the only ones that were put out (besides the impossible to get "Team Samurai: The Beginning" which I can't find anywhere!).

"A Skorn in their Side"

Yes! I remember getting this VHS for Christmas when I was around 10 or 11!

The only reason I watched it as a kid was because it was nearly the same as Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. My friends and I would always play make-believe MMPR and we would always fight for the red ranger. We would also play SSSS and I would always automatically be Sam because my name is actually Sam. :D good times.

I remember watching this show when I was a child as well. I was in 3rd grade at the time. I was into Power Rangers. What can I say, I WAS YOUNG FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!! I don't really like to admit to my peers today, because now I look back on watching those shows, and I think to myself "Why did I ever get into that stuff?". It was better than that one show on the USA Network "Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills". I mean WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY better than that POS (Piece of ****). I could only think to myself a few things. One, is Matthew Lawrence the only one in the cast who became successful? Because you don't see any of the other people in stuff these days. Especially the girl who played his girlfriend. SHE WAS HOT! But I saw that this show was her only acting credit. Man I want to know whatever happened to all the other people from this show. At least Tim Curry and Kath Sourcie have success doing other stuff, even if they just did the voices on this show. Even though I feel funny watching these types of shows when I was a kid, I kind of wonder if there are ways to try to watch them again. It's been like nearly 10 years since I last watched this show.

reply

I believe I first saw it when at the age of nine. I was super-excited because I liked the Power Rangers (*gag*), VR Troopers, Beetle Borgs, and Masked Rider, but SSSS was the only one of those these shows that wasn't on cable, meaning the ony one I could watch. Saw three episodes before it discontinued on whatever channel, and now I'm geting all the videos (still love it).

Did anyone get it on ABC Saturdays??? For me, it was one M-F Mornings on syndication, then aired around 10:30 am on ABC Saturday Mornings...

reply

Yeah, I remember seeing it on ABC Saturday mornings from time to time. It also used to come on YTV here in Canada for awhile. It would be really cool if they were to put the re-runs on again, I'd try to tape as many as I could.

omg, this show is a blow to my face on how much i really have aged. i can't look at this and not remember my crush on Servo aka Matthew Lawrence. it's so crazy that something like this piqued our interest at age 9-13 (I was 11) and now kids are watching Jackie Chan cartoons, Pok-e-mon or CSI: Miami.

we had the best kids shows in the 90's didn't we? California Dreams, Batman/Superman Cartoons, Power Rangers, and Superhman Samurai Syber-Squad (someone got carried away with the alliteration).

reply

My brother is 17 now and remembers watching this when he was 6. I was 2. My brother loved it so much that my dad taped the episodes and I used to watch them when I was 5 or 6. And a few days ago he said, "Hey, remember Superhuman Samurai?" and then he started singing the theme song, and we remembered Kilokhan and everything! lol. We have to find the tapes though.

Ryan: No, listen! Maybe we're being Punk'd! Maybe we get to meet Ashton!

You guys are looking back through rose-coloured glasses. This show was god awful.

I mean, just look at the plot summary:

"Sam Collins is a typical teen (with a talent for programming video games) who's the leader of a rock band. One day, at practice, he is the victim of a sudden energy surge. He become a character in one of his games, named "Servo". Meanwhile, Malcolm Fricke, discovers a strange program in HIS computer, named "Kilokahn", which is a military Artificial Intelligence program, now presumed destroyed in the energy surge. Now Sam, Sydney, Tanker and Amp (later Lucky) must fight Kilokahn in cyberspace while keeping everything hush-hush."

I guarantee you this show was born out of a board meeting. "Those little bastards sure do love their 'Powered Rangers.' We need to cook up something like that, but different. Maybe relate it to that 'Internet' all them young people are talking about. It can't fail!"

reply

So!? What are you playing at sean-496? I freakin loved this show!

Man, I can't believe it only lasted for one season. I almost thought I just made this show up in my head. Cause no one I know even remembers it. But know I know I'm not crazy. *sigh*............ I remember being like 3 years old(was I ever that young?) watching this and Power Rangers and The X-men cartoon. Very good times.......

reply

I loved this show too. I can't believe nobody remembers anything about it besides the fact that it had the middle Lawrence brother in it. Well it also had the other 2 brothers in it. And the show consisted of this evil kid who sat in his room in the dark and tried to take over the world by sending these giant monster type things into computers. The Lawrence brother was the only guy who could stop him and he would transform into a Super Human Samurai Cyber Squad and he would somehow go inside his computer and fight the monsters or whatever. I don't know... it sounds stupid but I ate it all up. The show was so badass, I remember this scene where the Lawrence kid was like kissing this girl in a lunch room. I was only about 9 at the time so it was like porn to me.
