I have a question about one of the scenes in The Stand.

In this movie When they turned the electricity on it showed everything coming back on. It showed a car with a dead body in it at a carwash and the carwash turned on. All I am thinking is that if you are really sick why would you be washing your car as you die.

Why does slouching cause back pain? http://i.giphy.com/xTiTnM38FovdBc4cp2.gif

According to the book, there were four phases (or stages) to the superflu. First was the initial stage, where you felt bad, but could still function; the secondary stage was when you were acutely sick. Third stage was a false recovery, where many felt that they were getting better, and the terminal phase which was very swiftly fatal. My impression is that the terminal stage lasted a very few minutes in many cases. The folks that were walking about eating out, getting the car washed, or their laundry done were in the third phase, or the false recovery. Then the terminal phase hit them and they died on the spot--at the carwash, the laundromat, etc. That was the reason so many of them were out and about.

Hope this helps.
