Who got it the worst?

Harold or Nadine?

Harold or Nadine?
Personally, my belief is that Nadine got it far worse. There are a couple of reasons for this. One was that she was raped by a demon, and reduced to a near-catatonic state. The second reason is that had Flagg destroyed the Free Zone, she was aware that she would have played a very major role in that. Remember that when she was with Larry on the journey to Boulder, she was of the mind that murder was the one unpardonable sin, since so many had died in the plague. To put it simply, her conscience was bothering her. Granted, she did find out what Flagg was, and she did what she could to put it right, but she had, to paraphrase the book 'found out that fact a little too late'.

Harold, by comparison, had a much easier time dying as he really had been misled by both Nadine and Flagg. His conscience, while it was certainly bothering him, was a lot easier on him than Nadine's was on her. Besides, Harold was not raped.

Lose lose not loose loose.

I agree Gary.

We don't know the full horror and capacity of the pregnancy would take on her body as its referenced that she would've been given birth before dying. Then if its like the dark tower the baby would eat the corpse. Also she was given premonitions of what would happen and I think she knew what was stored for her with the pregnancy so she couldn't leave and for Vegas. It was a loose loose anyway you look at it. Even if she found a way to abort the baby she wouldn't have a friend in the world and thus would be alone a world that had moved on. The feeling of helplessness, shame and feeling unclean were probably unbearable
Good point.

My notification is messing up again. Sorry Gary and thank you.
Besides, Flagg would have killed her anyway had she aborted the baby. She would have killed Flagg in a very real sense.

Goodness, imagine if there was deleted scene in which Harold WAS raped by Flagg...

Nadine. She dies insane and believing she is condemned to burn in Hell, and she got raped by an inhuman monster. Harold had it bad too, but I think he died at peace with himself and, in a way, his conscience. He died sane and accepted responsibility for his actions, learned at last (if too late to save his life) from his mistakes, and perhaps saved his soul. Even the people he had tried to murder found it in themselves to mourn him and show his corpse a measure of respect.
