This "remake" SPEED RACER series seems to be largely forgotten, but I really enjoyed it. I think I saw just about every episode that was lucky enough to air, and I still have one on tape that I recorded one morning. I liked it a lot more than the original. I guess it's too much to hope for a DVD release, though. :( The theme song was cool, too.

The original is okay. I think if I had grown up with it I'd like it more, but even though I did see it first (a couple years before the '93 series), I just like the newer series more because the animation was better and it had more action.
I know the episode you are talking about it is called Race To The Future. i just found a copy at a flea market i don't really like it as much as the original.

I'm surprised how it has been forgotten since this was the cartoon that introduced me to what Speed Racer was. However I wasn't aware of the original cartoons so sometimes things get introduced in a different way for other generations. So I would had thought this would apply in the same way for other people that weren't around at the time of the original.
