She played the stereotypical Latina role. Tons of attitude...speaks Spanish to those who don't understand the language, and be eye candy for black men. Her role provided nothing significant here.

Don't quote me on this because I haven't seen the show since it's original air dates back in the early 90s but here goes. If I remember correctly, JLo was a cashier in the community owned co-op grocery store. I think Clifton Powell was on some black nationalist movement and ran the coop that everyonei called Jumangi which was Swahili again if I'm not mistaken.
