The finale *spoilers*

So, I remember long ago when Nick was hyping the finale. I had already gotten bored with the show right around the episode she got super strength. I regret not watching the finale. So, can somebody tell me what happened in that episode, and whether or not she gave up her powers?

I vaguely remember Alex Mack, but the only episode I kind of remember off the top of my head was the finalle (ironicly). From what I remember, Alex was capsured by the chemical plant/government and was put inside some plastic box to contain her. There she told (and showed) her parents everything she could do/what had happened when they had showed up. I forget how everything was resolved (assuming it was climatic) but she supposedly took something to get rid of her powers (she tells everyone, including her friend who's name escapes me), but it ends after she is seen looking over at the town (I thinbk) at a sunset and we are shown that she still have her powers. Thats what I remember, sorry if it's really vague but I havn't seen this show in so many years.

Yup... I remember it perfectly, and I still have it on tape from April 1998. Here's the synopsis:

It begins with the chemical plant releasing GC-161 to the public as the "Formula 161" weight-loss supplement. Danielle Atron knows that it causes strange powers in test subjects after using test rabbits, but plans to flee the country with a billion dollars in a Swiss bank account before the mass chaos over the side-effects begins.
Then Lewis Driscoll accidentally finds out about Alex's powers, when he ambushes her with a water gun right as she's changing into liquid. Later, Lewis calls Ray on his cell phone and talks to him about it, where the call is picked up by the chemical plant.
The chemical plant captures Lewis, and Lars threatens him, until Lewis is scared to the point of revealing that the GC-161 kid is Alex.
The chemical plant sends a secret squad after Alex, and captures her as she tries to flee. She is taken to the plant, and locked in a closed plastic containment chamber where she can't use her powers. Shortly afterward, her parents are captured as well and locked in with her. She tells them everything, and her father reveals that if Alex had just told him to start out with, he could have stopped Danielle Atron years ago.
Truck-driver Dave, meanwhile, has gone to the Feds, and reveals to them that the chemical plant was testing GC-161 years before the FDA approved it, and that a man named Alias Griffin was involved in the bypassing.
The Feds bring Alias Griffin in, and subject him to a lie detector test, where he fails and it is revealed that he was paid off by Danielle Atron to accept phony test results for the FDA. The feds mobilize to try and stop PVC.
Lewis Driscoll tries to use his big mouth to spread the word about how Alex is being held hostage in the chemical plant, but nobody believes him, not even Robyn.
Ray and Scott break into the chemical plant to try and rescue the Macks by crawling through the air ducts.
As GC-161 is ready to hit the shelves, Danielle and Lars set up bombs throughout the chemical plant so that once they are gone, there won't be a shred of evidence left behind, including the Mack family.
Ray reaches the room where the Macks are, shattering Alex's containment chamber with a pipe, and breaking her out. But as they try to escape, Danielle and Lars arrive, and Ray tries to fend them off so that the Macks can escape, but he is captured and locked in Danielle's office.
Alex liquefies the whole family, and the Macks escape from the chemical plant, picking up Scott along the way, but Ray is still trapped inside as the clocks on all of the bombs tick down second by second. Danielle leaves the plant, headed for a waiting chopper, and Lars drives away.
Alex liquefies herself, and rushes back into the chemical plant to try and save Ray. She reaches him, and races out as the bombs' clocks ticks down... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... BOOM!!!!! The factory explodes.
Scott sees Danielle trying to reach the waiting helicopter, and he runs over, grabs her from behind, and holds her back. Sirens sound in the distance, and the helicopter flies away without Danielle. She is arrested, and Dave is made an official FDA. Later, they catch up with Lars and he is taken away as well.
Alex and Ray emerge from the explosion unharmed, and the battle is over.
Back home, George Mack makes a GC-161 antidote in a small vial, and gives it to Alex. Ray tells her "well, it was fun while it lasted." As Alex walks out, Annie arrives back home from college, and they take a walk so that Alex can tell her what happened.
As Annie heads home to face "The wrath of Mom and Dad," Alex stays behind on the top of a hill. She points her finger at a distant building, unleashing a zap that sends pulse waves back at her. She watches them go over her head and into the horizon, and then looks down at the vial containing the antidote. She studies it for a moment, and then the camera pans up as a grin comes to her face. She smiles wide, and then it fades to black and the credits roll.

Oops... I never could remember his name. I always just called him "Alex's boyfriend." My bad.

Yeah the finale was somewhat of a mystery. We never knew whether she drink the antidote or not. I guess they left it this way in case they ever wanted to bring the show back.

Personally, I think it would have been silly to bring the show back after that episode, after all, the bad guys were already defeated, and well, who else in Alex's community would be after GC-161?

They had one more episode after this, where she does have her powers. Everyone acts really weird around Alex all day, she gets held back in class and can't figure out what's wrong. At the end of the episode she finds out her parent's have bought her a car which was a suprise, and why everyone was acting weird around her.

Hunter wasn't around either so he must have left after all shizz hit the fan in the episode you are all tlaking about.

reply

Yeah, that episode is credited as episode 18, (where as the finale is ep's 19 & 20), though i think it could work as an episode after 20.

That episode was awful and would have ruined the ending.

I remember that episode where she was captured and then that was it. I think that episode was a "to be continued" episode so I may have missed the 2nd part because I didn't see where she had to go all back in the building and blah, blah, blah. That last episode is what I think ruined the show, I think people were used to her being secretive with her powers to everyone else and then when she got caught that just lost major fans.

Alright you guys I just read the Alex Mack book "paradise lost, paradise regain" and the book goes just like the TV show finale. If you want to watch the finale go to youtube.com and type in secret world of alex mack pardise lost. Or you can type in "Alex Mack Ends" and it shows the last 9 minutes of the finale.

I have to say it was a wonderful ending and it leaves you wondering if she took the antidote or not.

The finale was excellent and the most touching part was when Alex gave Dave a hug for keeping her powers a secret even though he knew all along.

Just had to post this even though this thread is old.
