I am a huge fan of the work from Lars von Trier but still i havent bought the DVDbox from Riget. I don't like horror so i was wondering if this is really scarry or ok to watch for someone who doenst like horror? Maybe hard to answer this question because you are not me but maybe there are people here who don't like horror also but can watch this. Hope you can help me! Thanks!
Well, I scare easily and thought it was pretty creepy at times but not that bad (but then again, I always find hospitals creepy). I've heard several horror fans say that they didn't find it that scary.
The series is part ghost story, part black comedy and part hospital soap drama, and the three parts are IMO perfectly balanced, so at least it's not all horror - if you don't like that part you may still like the others. It's been compared to Twin Peaks a lot, and I think that if you liked that you'll like this. Personally, it's my favorite Trier-production.
There ain't anyone running around killing other people with chain saws and machine guns, there's almost no blood, except for some few scenes. But the story about the little girl who has been murdered by her father and the mysterious ambulance driving with white windows in the wrong lane makes a creepy atmosphere, which makes it more scary than some splatter/horror-movie
Basically, it's "ER" meets "Twin Peaks." There are some creepy moments when Mary puts in an appearance, but it's not a gory kind of horror (despite being set in a hospital). More laughs (intentional) than scares.
It's very high on creepy ambiance. I don't scare all that easily but I jumped during the final episode of the first season when the little girl's hand reaches for the doll.
