Julia is the worst.

After a long journey, I am finally nearing the end of the 6th season. I just can't stand her. I don't remember a time that she ever had any redeeming qualities. She was always cheating on her boyfriends, and even even she was married to Griffin, I actually felt sorry for him even after he did what he did! (I thought he was too good for her in a way, anyway.) All of the other Salinger siblings had character development over the six seasons in a positive way. To me, she was just.....ugh. Griffin should've considered himself lucky!!!!

You're not alone on your feelings regarding Julia that's for sure. About a month ago I had a conversation with my mom about old TV shows and this got brought up. She never watched it back then but remembered how big of a fan I was of the show. She wanted to check it out so I sent her my box set. She made it through season one and when I asked her how she felt about the show the first thing she said was she couldn't stand Julia.

I told her if she thinks she's bad in the first season, just wait. She aint seen nothing yet.

I agree...she has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. As the series is being wrapped up I didn't like how they brought Justin back to wrap it up all nice and neat. She was his first love of course but I really think Justin could've easily moved on from that. Once he hit college he would've never looked back.

A perfect and realistic ending for Julia on this series would've been to wind up alone and her having to reflect on how she wound up there. In her path was nothing but a bunch of broken relationships and the collateral damage she inflicted on others due to her selfishness.

A ton of examples of course but one of the lowest points for this character was Libby's suicide. She played a role in that girl's downward spiral and to see Julia up on her soap box at the funeral made me want to vomit. She's nothing but a narcissist. She's also veering into sociopathic territory. She cares about absolutely nothing but herself and her own needs and to hell with anyone who gets in the way.

All of this is so true. I just disliked her character so much. She was slightly likable in season 4 when she was helping out the family when Charlie was sick, but other than that she was my least favorite. She always HAD to be with someone. Then she whined and cried about she should go at it alone for a while but always always was with someone, usually through not so great circumstances.

I started out not liking Charlie, but he matured and learned from his mistakes, as well as Bailey. Claudia was always my favorite, because she held things together and was positive. But yeah. I just had to rant about Julia for a little while! Lol!

Gee, a selfish teenager/young adult who is highly indecisive. Doesn't sound realistic at all.
If only the writers wrote her character based on how real teenagers/young adults behave .......oh wait

The problem is she went from a sweet, caring A student to a selfish, thought-less, lying b!tch in no time flat.

She didn't care who she screwed over, even when they were threatened with having their family broken apart and sent to foster care.

Had they written her to be a horrible person that would be one thing. But they kept trying to make it that she was just a "typical teenager." 
