A Sore Loss

When I was a kid, I used to watch this show ALL the time. Little did I know, I was watching the same 13 episodes over and over. Just learned it didn't even run a complete season. After watching my two favorite episodes on Youtube for the first time since the 90s (The Bully and Dee Dee's haircut) I realized two things.

1) The "poor acting" thing everyone is hung up on was really due to the fact the cast was primarily kid actors. Given the chance, they could have improved.

2) This show had the potential to be a long-running Nickelodeon success.

It was one of the few shows over the history of television ever to depict an African American family embedded in middle class suburban life, but at the same time maintained a level of authenticity and never tried to be anything it wasn't. The premise (family values, young men being role models to younger children and protecting siblings when need be) carries over into every race, but even more so in the black community where an emphasis needs to be placed on brotherhood and togetherness for the progression of *all* races.

I LOVE what the show COULD'VE been had it been given the time and nurturing it needed to grow and I would absolutely love to see it revamped one day in the near future. It's better than 'All That', Keenan and Kel, and any other 90s Nick "gems" could ever have hoped to be. My Brother and Me is just one more missed opportunity courtesy of Nickelodeon.

In case you haven't noticed, the show actually ended because of creative differences between the creators and the producers. Nickelodeon was merely an innocent bystander in the whole affair.

I'm sure they would like you to think that. Nickelodeon could have stepped in and mediated, but they did not, nickelodeon also could have found more producers, but they did not. Nickelodeon's name was all over that show, in the beginning credits, while it was airing, and at the end, however when it came time to save it... They did not.

Well, it's true. Ralph Woolfolk IV (Dee Dee) said so.

I enjoy watching MBAM, but don't kid yourself.

Let's say no to homophonia. We all sound the same inside.

What I find funny is how long Nick continued airing this show even though it only had one season. Hell I remember reading that there were three episodes that were filmed, but got canned in the editing stage after it was decided that it wouldn't be getting a second season.

Its amazing how people hang around message boards of movies they dont like
