Piano music in the background

In the first episode, there is a flirty conversation between Rosamond and Lydgate, where she calls herself a rough country girl. In the background, somebody plays the piano. I KNOW that I know this piece - I just can't put my finger upon it. Is it Schumann?

It doesn't occur precisely at the point you indicate, so maybe we are curious about different pieces. But then, maybe not...
There is a piano piece that Rosamund plays several times, a fairly simple tune but so effective; one of the times it's heard from the outside by the doctor as he is strolling by on the street. Anyway, I was always entranced whenever it played, and I thought to myself, "God, I love Schumann," because it sounds so like Schumann. But I have not succeeded in locating the piece in any of my volumes of Schumann's piano music, and I have pretty much all his solo piano works in one book or another. I'm wondering if it might be a transcription, if it might originally have been a song. And of course, it might be another composer -- Mendelssohn? Schubert? But everything about it is Schumannesque -- the melody, the way it plays out later, etc.
