Pluto Is No Longer a Planet

As soon as I heard the news, the first thing I thought of was "Now they gotta rewrite that Magic School Bus book."

I can honestly say it was from the book that I first learned the planets of the solar system.

reply

Haha, same here. They'll also hafta redo the episode, since now apparently Ms. Frizzle was not on an "outer planet".

I miss Pluto :( So long, old friend...

reply

And I'll stand by that belief out of sheer apathy to changing what I was taught all my life.

reply

well i guess size really does matter

Ha ha. I'm no genius but my friend and I both remember questioning the logic of calling Pluto a planet in school, the teacher said "Uranus and Pluto "change places" every so years" like you mean Pluto orbits Uranus? As in, Pluto is a satellite? Oh and it's actually smaller than other moons? In what way is this supposed to be a planet?

F$cking science. They figured out the universe's age before being able to define a planet. But that's the way of it.

reply

They didn't figure out the universe's age. They were wrong about it since Earth is a young planet, only around 6,000 years old.

reply

Oh no. Here we go...

reply

What? We will all find out that's true in the future. Death is inevitable.

reply

Total side note, but when they visited Pluto on the show and Arnold took off his helmet and froze solid, that freaked my *beep* out as a child. There's no possible way he could have survived that.

reply

Actually, it is still a planet. It's classified as a dwarf planet.
