Just a thought. I loved this show when it first came out. And I remember watching this show in South East Asia where I am from. I suppose people at the the time were not ready for it.
Since we have seen in the past 5 years or so a plathorea of re-makes. So why not take the plunge? Maybe a morbid gritty version.
I remember watching this show when I was a kid, and I loved it. It would be great to do a re-make. Even use the original cast. Carl Lumbly is a great actor who we don't get to see enough of.
Agreed, Mate. I hope people will make more noise about it.I always thought the show as being uplifting due to the fact that the hero was disabled but was able to fight through that to better himself and the world around him, In this case fighting crime.
I think it would be neat to see a remake, although superhero shows don't seem to be doing that well currently. Heck, I'd even be up for a comic book series.
----- Never insult seven people when you're only packing a six-shooter.
I feel a remake would not be the same. I miss the older movies and shows. the shows and movies now a days are so mediocre.
I would like to see some good writing and entertainment of new produced shows and movies but not copied remakes, because they never do the original any justice.
Re-make is the only way. They killed off M.A.N.T.I.S. is the season finale. If memory serves the only superhero to be killed off without any chance of a return. So looks like a re-make is the only way to go. I'll throw a name to play Miles Hawking's character, Chiwetel Ejiofor! Maybe Sam Raimi can help resurrect a very nice concept like Darkman too.
After the pilot, FOX was too sensitive and dumped most of the series' African-American co-stars which caused quite a controversy at the time. Also, one of the creators of the series, Sam Rammi, was dumped after the pilot.
Then the series was dumbed down.
Then it was canceled.
Actually "M.A.N.T.I.S." is sort of a remake itself. "Exo-Man" used the same premise of a professor in a wheelchair who was crippled by criminals. David Akyroyd, who played the physics professor, invents a bulletproof suit which enables him to walk although slower than a turtle. The pilot was aired on NBC in 1977, but was not picked up as a series.
