Mistakes with english subtitles....

Hey this isn't important or anything but I thought it would be worth a mention. I'm a 15 year old australian and absolutely love Rex. I own the first 5 seasons on DVD. Anyways I was watching the Doll Murderer the other day, and when they were trying to identify the dead woman Moser is quoted as saying "25 to thirty years old, brown hair 70 metres tall." I just thought that was so funny.
I have german grandparents and every now and then I can catch a word of they are saying and understand it. I didn't know what he really said there but in another episode Brandtner gets a call while Christian is over to go to the office. The subtitles say "Come on guys lets go." But what Brandtner actually said was "Come kinder" which means "come on children"I thought that was funny too.

Can I ask you where you bought those DVDs? Only a few episodes are available in Germany/Austria, and I would love to have the first 5 seasons in complete.

reply

I actually live in Australia and I bought them here at a shop called JB-Hifi because that is the only place that sells here. You might be able to buy them over the internet I'm not really sure. Sorry I don't think that helped much.

The Rex DVDs are available from many Australian DVD retailers, in fact, almost all of them

Definitely available on-line too. Just google "Inspector Rex DVDs Australia", and you'll find many options,

reply

Try going to www.ezydvd.com for Inspector Rex ? Kommissar Rex as they take paypal and ship internationally and often have the series in stock...

A great series especially with Moser... the last chap was the worst and why the show died although Elke Winkens is dead sexy at times...

reply

I'm in Germany, but I imported the DVDs from Australia. Someday when I re-watch the whole show I might re-translate some of the subtitles. Could still take a few years though...

reply

Haha thats funny, you import them from Australia, even though it was filmed in a country just south of yours?

Surely they sell it in Germany and Austria too?

P.S I live in Australia too- Brisbane.

reply

No, they don't. As mentioned earlier, only a few episodes are available on DVD in Germany and Austria.

reply

I'm Australian too, and own the first season. JB HiFi is my favourite shop.

If I have to give my life you can have it.

reply

JB HiFi do have a lot of them- as do Myer (which is where I got the rex by request DVD). I also have Series 2, 5 and 8, all from JB's!

reply

You can also get them for a decent price at Dymocks - and no I'm not on the payroll. Just a Dymocks Booklover.

I don't think I'll be getting the Rex by Request DVD, it just looked to be a money revenue DVD unless someone wants to prove me otherwise... : )

reply

Like most people told you, we can't get the series on DVD in Europe. I'm from Slovenia (a neighbour of Austria) and they just re-aired the series, everybody wants DVD's and everybody is ordering online from Australia, since we can't get them anywhere else.

It's a damn shame but with the new technologies I recorded every episode with subtitles so I don't need to bother with DVD's ;).

The only thing I'm waiting for is the new Kommissar Rex (made in 2007) to get on DVD's does anybody know when the DVD's are going to be released?

reply

I don't know why but the Australian releases have mucked up the seasons- 2 of them aren't on sale on DVD
(Series 12 is sold here as Series 10...???)
We have all seasons (1-10) and Rex by Request for sale at many stores here- JBHifi, Myer, David Jones to name a few.
I have series 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 and rex by request and once I get the other 3 seasons I should have it all (except for the 2 missing seasons that for some reason aren't sold on DVD)

reply

Actually The Australian DVD series 1-8 contain all the episodes from seasons 1-10. I read somewhere that the episodes were grouped according to when they aired on SBS, not in Europe.
