Who else thought Magic Magee was EXCELLENT!

Was one of the best characters in N&S: BOOK III. Fave quote: "SAAAVE! SOOOMME! FORCHARLIE!"

I can't remember him, was he the African-American man that was smooth-talking Bent toward the end of the movie? If so, yeah he was pretty cool.

Hallo, RikaJessie!

Yep, that was the guy who was the smooth-talkin traveler who basically helped HAzard and Main take Bent out and save lil' Gussie. That "SSFC!" line is gold! Y'know, you must really love this miniseries because (and I mean this in a friendly manner) every time I post, you respond. It's pretty cool. If they could've stripped away some of the soap-opera(ish) vibes and filled in some of the plot holes, N&S wouldn'thave been too bad! Even though Bent was a villain, he's like an onion--peel back the layers, and you find an interesting...You get the drift, RikaJesse ;).

PS, Who else thinks Bent would have been a great Bond Villain? I certainly do!

lol well I do like the miniseries, it was something I liked a lot when I saw it as a young girl because I was very interested in this era because I liked Gone With The Wind, also soap operas.

I hadn't seen it in years and then I saw it at the beginning of 2013 again when it was aired on Encore. I remembered how I had created my own character for the story when I was little, and I read that there were differences in the miniseries from the books, so I got the books to see what were the differences because I was interested in writing about my character for fun.

I had always liked the character of Bent, and Philip Casnoff, but when I read the books, the character that the movie version of Bent was merged with, Lamar Powell, became my favorite character in all of literature.

I give Philip Casnoff a lot of credit for merging two very different villain characters together into one awesome performance. I know he gets a lot of flack for the accent supposedly being too heavy, but whether it is or not, I don't care, the guy gave a great performance and had to basically play two characters.

Also, I check out the boards because I want to see if there is any info on the remake. That's why I appear to be here often.XD

Yeah, I'd say Bent would be a good Bond villain, though I've never seen the Bond films and only know about them by word of mouth.

I agree the series is too soapy and I wish that Jakes had not written so many characters in one series so he could have focused more on developing his characters. I also think the miniseries directors played up too much the soapy stuff, and shouldn't have tried to make Ashton be Scarlett, which they admitted they saw her as Scarlett. There are differences and they should have played up on those so Ashton wouldn't appear to be a rip-off of Scarlett, though I have to fault Jakes for this as well since he certainly did seem to copy a lot of elements of her life and put them into Ashton's, particularly before Book 3.
