Why was Bronx different?


Was it ever explained why Bronx was not only wingless but also sub-intelligent to the point of being non-sentient. Are some Gargoyles hatched bestial?

Moreover notice how Lexington was subtly different from the other Gargoyles physically?

He had no horns or crests on his head.
And his wings sprouted from his arms like a flying squirrels rather than from his shoulders like the others do.
How he managed to fly and carry things at the same time is amazing.

http://gargwiki.net/Gargoyle_beast Bronx is from a closely related species. As for Lex, I'm guessing it's just part of normal gargoyle variation.
