The Last One

Hey guys. Its been almost 15 years since the Friends finale aired. I see that this is a generally well regarded episode. It is the highest rated episode on IMDB tied with TOW everybody finds out.

My question is, do you think its that good? On rewatching it last night, I realised how anticlimactic it is. Yes Monica and Chandler´s twins are born and Ross stops Rachel going to Paris but I felt like Phoebe and Joey kind of got shafted, especially Joey. His main story is buying a new chick and duck, that end up getting stuck in the foosball table. Boring... While Phoebe ends up being Ross´s chauffeur.

Am I the only one that doesn´t think its that great?

I agree

I quite enjoyed the last episode, for the most part. And on re-watching, the Ross/Rachel; "I got off the plane" bit still leaves a lump in my throat. And liked the end scene where they were all stood in the apartment, and then decided to go out for coffee.

I agree that Joey didn't really have a conclusive story, but they were setting him up for his own spin-off show. If they knew how unpopular/short-lived it was going to be, they'd have probably given Joey a better ending.

I always thought Phoebe's end was more of a cop-out. Not just in this episode, but generally. It felt like Mike just sort of turned up, so she'd have somebody to marry. Then you never really saw much of him again. Felt like a forced ending somehow.

I totally agree, the last one is one of my least favorite ones.
Also, it's quite a sad one, not so much with the story itself but the tone is totally like "the party is over". Never like it much.

imdb is crap btw, Amazon dropped the ball on that one.

On IMDB, there is probably some 2004 voting bias there too but they seem to be pretty on the money with rating other episodes. I know on first viewing I thought, it was pretty good for a finale but its not an episode I enjoy rewatching.

Yes, but I kind of felt that way about the whole season. There should've been more build up throughout the season and tying up lose ends. Now the finale feels so rushed.

I guess Joey got the the least satisfying ending, because of the spin-off.
