That's why she wasn't "early". She didn't know she was having twins. They actually came right on time.
She thought she had 3 more weeks left.

Right or wrong, everybody thought the due date was 3 weeks later so that was the premise which everyone was operating which made the early birth a surprise.

You're both right here. Even with twins they give you a 9 months due date but tell you, you'll most likely to delivery early. Since you run out of room for.two babies pretty fast.
But since no one knew they were twins it was early for them! But in reality it makes sense and wasn't really luck.
