Strangest celebrity guest appearance...

For me was when Billy Crystal and Robin Williams did their skit in the beginning of the one with the ultimate fighting champion. It's not that it wasn't funny, it was just kind of random. Almost like it was improvised or something. Anyone else agree?

It's not that it wasn't funny

It's pretty much that it wasn't funny

reply

Lol I wasn't sure if I was supposed to laugh or not when I watched it.

reply

Most probably it's a reference to some movie or show but I never cared enough to confirm it

reply

Robin Williams and Billy Crystal's random scene was to promote an upcoming movie they were costarring in called Father's Day.

My vote for strangest celebrity guest apperance was Danny DeVito as a stripper. I *beep* you not, that actually happened.

Kathleen Turner as Chandler's dad. So strange and yet so wonderful.

reply

Yes, this was one of my favourites!

reply

how i loved her in the role

reply

Father's Day...that movie stood the test of time. Thank God for the Friends promotion!

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

reply

Yes, this one was the most disjointed. Even other celebrity appearances that we might not like, at least they were written characters into the storyline!

reply

i think the reaction of the cast sums it up pretty well

reply

jean claude van damme

reply

IMO JCVD was poor and disappointing in his guest appearance. Perhaps so more since that episode also had Susie 'underpants' Moss who clearly had fun.

reply

I agree with you, izzy.

reply

Brad Pitt. Just obvious publicity ploy.

reply

Agreed.

reply

Brad Pitt publicity ploy? lol. The show didnt need publicity by its 8th season. Trust me... Pitt was only on there because he was married to Jennifer Aniston.

reply

Publicity for Pitt, not the show.

reply

He didn't need publicity in 2001. Ocean's Eleven had been tearing up the box office. He was dating Aniston at the time and did it as a favor.

That was one of my favorite episodes! He was absolutely harsh and rude to Rachel, and it was hilarious. Then more and more secrets come out about their younger years that you wouldn't see coming. Loved it!

reply

It's definitely the strangest. As for the worst? Well, it's definitely also ONE of the worst. Can't stand Brad Pitt's guest appearance either.

reply

Yeah I didn't care for Brad Pitt either. He was good looking and was with Jen so that's why everyone went crazy over that episode lol

reply

why the hate for his guest appearance though, aside from all that? i like Pitt as an actor and as for his actual role, it was funnier than him just being some date for one of the girls like a lot of the other male celeb guests

reply

Because I don't think he was any good or funny.

reply

I agree. I didn't find him funny either. People only laughed because he was Brad Pitt and he was good looking. If it was any other person acting out as his character, no one would care about it.

reply

Helen Hunt

reply

yeah the helen hunt one sucked

reply

i didn't even remember her guest appearance, lol

reply

Harrison Ford's

reply

I could be wrong but I don't think Harrison Ford ever made an appearance on Friends.

When I first watched the episode, I never really got the whole hype of the Helen Hunt and her lady friend guest appearance.

I didn't even know who she was before I saw "Twister", lol (I was 11 at the time).

This was 2 years before that movie, so I was like: "Why are the audience going crazy?"

Then ofcourse, I realised afterward, they were playing characters from a sister sitcom they were in that linked Phoebe's twin sister Ursula.

I guess if you're not from the US, you'll be left in confusion with that episode.

reply

I completely agree with this one being the strangest. It's also got to be one of the worst. I respect them both, and may Robin rest in peace, but it was SO out of place! Neither of them even acknowledge the Friends, just randomly continue their conversation once they've plonked their backsides on the couch, and when Joey tries to interact with Billy Crystal, he shrugs Joey off. I think it's Joey who intervenes anyway - it's been a while since I watched that scene for obvious reasons.

reply

yeah it was definitely the most half-baked of the ones i can remember at least
