Johnny Nice Painter Underrated?

Do any of you think Johnny Nice Painter is an underrated Fast Show character? I think that character is excellent as is the sketches, although it gets a little one note although the same could be said of the other Fast Shows acts.

I just find it pretty funny at the thought of this seemingly mild mannered painter who placidly paints, but flies into a psychotic rage whenever he or somebody else mentions the work "Black".

How come the "Black" word is a trigger for Johnny's Schizoid outbursts and how he always mentions "Mother"?

He's my favourite character. "Black! Black like the time you locked me in the cellar and fed me pins!"

Is it "megaton toast"? I always thought it was "maggots on toast"

By the way, does anyone know if "Johnny nice painter" is actually based on Alwyn Crawshaw?

It is one of the best characters in Fast Show. His hilarious bursts after the word "black" is mentioned surely make you laugh.

Fave character. The random, insane tirades he launches off into are just pant-wettingly funny.

OH THAT IS the second best thing in the fast show! I'm in a 'art' school myself and that thing reminds me of few chaps there. but th best thing is that BRILLIANT-guy. i just luv 'im. SO not unterrated by me... dunno about the normal people..

His best moment was when he smacked his wife's painting into her face. That had me in stitches.

In The Fast Show Live:

"I'm caught in a trap! I can't get out! Because I love you too much baby!"

I almost cried at that line, when his foot got stuck in his chair! Lol!

My art tecacher at school was always lecturing us that the colour black rarely ever appeared naturally, so we should never use it. She spent ten minutes going on about it.

I always thought black made artists get a bit upset! :p
