Did Ted love Ralph?

How do you interpret it? Because on the one hand Ted was married, but on the other hand he was jealous when Ralph got a girlfriend in the special. And he seems to find reasons to get close to Ralph. Like when he showed him how to fish in one sketch he kind of put his arms around him. I think the jury's out on how he feels, what do you think?

Yeah he must be in love with Ted. Also in the live show Ralph was singing about his love for Ted.

ah yeah, sorry :-) Well good question. I think he knew about Ralph's love for him, and i think that's why he acts so uncomfortable when he's around, afraid that one day Ralph would find the courage to tell him. But I don't think Ted loved him.

Although its been years since i saw the series or the one hour Ted and Ralph special. I got the impression from the series that Ralph was in love with Ted and Ted was very uncomfortable about it.
From the one hour special i got a different impression, that Ralph loved Ted as a father figure instead. Ted seemed to be less hostile about that as he didnt appear to have children of his own.
Like i say, its been years since either and my memory might be missing something.

hI Fran - Ralph definitely loved Ted .... and i think it was love! I think Ted cared for Ralph in that he thought he was a really nice guy/would have looked out for him/saw him as a friend but never romantically.

Best double act ever tho Ted and Ralph thats for sure!

Wikipedia says this:

Creators Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews have said that "They're both Gay. Ralph is GAY gay. As gay as a window. But Ted's more repressed gay..."
I personally think that the love is mutual, too. Which probably makes the situations all the more awkward.

Also, because someone said Ted probably didn't have kids, he does! When Mrs Ted died, Ralph said something about her living on through their children and grandchildren. They must've been grown ups already, which bears the question - how old is Ted really? A hundred?

Just to add my twopennorth after all this time, I think Ted loved Ralph as in he really cared for him after knowing him since he was a baby, while Ralph was in love with Ted, wanted him as his partner.
There was a sketch where someone was making fun of Ralph and Ted whispered something to the effect of being very careful about going out after dark. In other words if you mess with Ralph you mess with me. He cared for and protected him.

Ted definitely loved Ralph, but was seriously repressed and probably a lot more realistic than Ralph was about the situation.

There's one scene in Christmas where Ted mentions a flower is called, 'My love lies bleeding' and they both wince and look pained.

Also, another scene where, due to a series of bizarre events regarding different animals, Ralph is completely naked. Ted looks like he's about to explode, and keeps sneaking a look now and then ;)
