The music in Due South

I've been watching the series for the first time since it first aired, and I've been awed by the music in the show.

I'm watching "The Edge" (2nd season) right now, and noticed that much of the music is from Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". I say it's from DSOTM, but it's not. It's original music done to sound like the Pink Floyd tracks. I hate to say it's been ripped off from DSOTM because it's done so well and it's SO much like it, that I'm sure some deal was worked out with Pink Floyd to do it.

That's just one example. I never appreciated the music in the series, but now I am. It's great!

Most likely the TV Broadcast was allowed to use the 'real music' because "hey it's a Little Canadian Cop show, give them the Rights."

when the time came to release it on DVD their contract didn't allow them to keep the real stuff, so they re-dubbed it with 'kinda sorta sounds like it' that way the music still fits the scene; I Mean they chose PF's songs for a reason in the first place,so a wholly different song would not fit the scene

I know what you mean by the "generic music that sounds sort of like the original" stuff, but it was "too" close to the original complete with sound effects. Listen to it if you get the chance to see what I mean.

I loved the music in Due South. It always seemed so well chosen for the action and emotion in the scenes.

"Cabin Music" from the pilot is one of my all time favorite songs when I am feeling a little down.

The two CD featuring music from the show are still among my favorites. "Ride Forever" is a great song

Does anyone know whether the Sarah McLachlan tracks that were on the broadcast version of the show are on the DVDs in the box set?

Season one was the best for that.
