King Chicken's own father didn't know if he was Japanese or not?

From Inherit The Judgment: The Dope's Trial (Season 2)

Anyone else laugh their ass off when Duckman managed to confuse King Chicken and his dad in the trial by claiming that King Chicken was Japanese?

"I didn't know you was Japanese" - a bit of a strange thing to say to your own son (How could you not know the heritage of your own son, let alone yourself/wife).

Hahaha, yeah, I love that scene. "Well, you shouldn't assume!" *writes "ASSUME" on a chalkboard* "Because when you ASSUME, you... you... wait, there's a trick here, I used to know it..."

BTW, is that whole Japanese thing a reference to something?

[edit] Furthermore, what's that whole "ASSUME" dialog from? I remember seeing it a long time in a TV show (Odd Couple, maybe?), but I can't remember exactly.

"what's that whole "ASSUME" dialog from?"

It is indeed from an episode fo the Odd Couple, where Felix uses it in, I think, a courtroom situation where he is defending himself.

I discovered ASS-U-ME from The Benny Hill Show.
