why?

i so miss television shows such as this one and dr quinn medicine woman. i mean even the commercials on tv today are so raunchy with ppl cussing left and rite and ppl half naked and stuff. dont get me wrong im not perfect or anything but i see my little sisters copying the stuff...and they get enough of that influence in school...why can't there be some good family shows on anymore. LONG LIVE CHRISTY AND OTHER SHOWS LIKE IT!

I agree. I was very upset when Christy went off the air because they didn't even finish the final episode!! :x

I know! Why couldn't they have had some kind of conclusion between Christy, David and Neil? Was the canceling of the show so unexpected that the producers couldn't have done a more satisfactory ending for the fans? It still bothers me everytime I watch the series, to get to the last episode and see the same awful "limbo" ending. I know we can read the book or watch the movies to find out what happens but it's not the same.

Two new movies came out and ended the series. The actors didn't even know who Christy marries because they filmed weddings to both David and Neil.

Wait a minute... That was in the *movies* -- the 2000 - '01 sequels with Diane Ladd and Lauren Lee Smith? I was under the impression that they'd filmed those in the TV series with Kellie Martin; but because the show was cancelled they never finished/aired them. And here I was wondering why they weren't included on the DVDs published later. Either way, I know I sure wouldn't mind seeing them (wouldn't "spoil" a thing for me!); nor probably would the other original "Christy" fans.

Amen, sister!

Since Er ended, I don't have any TV shows that I watch regularly now. The Bachelor/Bachelorette is as close as it comes. I can stand to miss an episode or two. I generally don't care for reality TV though. The world has gone way too Jersey Shore for my liking! There's only so much forensic investigation I can be bothered with. I don't mind an episode of Castle or the Mentalist now and again.

I watched Dr. Quinn and bought the series on DVD (of course they come out with the compact set after I buy all the series sets separately, where each disc has its own case and takes up a lot of room on the shelf!) and of course I have Christy as well. It bummed me out that they ended it without being resolved, like My So-Called Life. I love Dr. Quinn even though Brian sometime got on my nerves with his regular 'I was just thinking' moments with Sully! ugh!

You sound like the kind of person who would enjoy Road to Avonlea (and I bet you're actually already familiar with it!), a celebrated Canadian series with a lot of heart. It's set in the 1900s and it's really sweet. It ran for 7 seasons and you can order them online from the Sullivan Boutique. Look for some samples of it on YouTube :) The series came after the famous Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Green Gables-the sequel, my favorite movies of all-time. And I got to meet Megan Follows who played Anne, earlier this year! Don't watch Anne of Green Gables-the Continuing story, unless you just want to see the two lovebirds finally together because the movie is not based on any of the books...and the fourth movie, Anne of Green Gables-A New Beginning, OMG it's complete BOLLOCKS!

There's an audience for shows like Christy, but religion is on the decline. That doesn't mean that social codes should decay, but sometimes there's a kind of thinking that because faith in a god is not trending, that therefore social codes are not trending either. Therefore a show like Christy gets a pass by production companies.

It's untrue, but that's how the marketing works. I'm an atheist. I vehemently dislike and disagree with any concept of a god of anykind, but I do believe in presenting oneself properly and proper conduct, as well as a general humanitarian outlook, which is part of what Christy was all about (however much I disagreed with the show's religious message).

A production company, or maybe one of the major studios, might pick up on the bible audience again and give her another try, but I doubt it.

Another female oriented show was Anne of Green Gables (the 80's production), which saw new life in the 90s and 2000s with different casting. Something like that may happen with a new version of "Christy".
