Why no DVD?

I'm so upset that Chicago Hope has not been put out on DVD yet! I've searched until my fingers have just about bled trying to find some kind of answer here on the internet. I have no clue who owns the rights to the show any more, so I don't even know who to try to contact. And then, it's a matter of finding a way to contact them to say, "Hey...enough with the LONG wait...get busy putting it out already!" Look at all of the shows that are out on DVD now, for crying out loud. Chicago Hope was so much better than a lot of them! I've gone to the TVSHOWSONDVD.COM web site to request it as well. Please, can someone just give us some kind of an answer already?! LOL

Chances are the reason for no DVD is the same reason Ally McBeal hasn't been released on DVD. They can't get the licensing for the music that was used in the shows. Now, Chicago Hope did not use nearly as much music as Ally, but they did use music in the Operating Rooms, Geiger sang alot of classical, yet obscure songs, and getting the licensing rights might take a while.

I'm with you! Of all DEK's shows that lasted more than 1 season, Chicago Hope is the most underrated. Just as good, as quirky, or as thought provoking as all his others.

That's right. Massive music licensing issues. Except it's not that they couldn't get the rights; it's that Fox wouldn't pay them what they wanted for them.

And once again, Greed keeps a perfectly good show off of DVD...

Ally McBeal has since been released.

How long must we wait for Chicago Hope and the rest of Picket Fences?

It's unfortunate. I had hoped with the release of Ally McBeal as a complete series, that it would have sold enough for them to go back and look at maybe releasing DEK's other series as boxed sets but I'm guessing no. I had also hoped that since the first three seasons of Chicago Hope have been on Hulu that we were getting close for those to be release to DVD. Maybe they felt not enough viewers were watching so they felt it wouldn't be worth it.

Also on hulu is the second season of Picket Fences but it is missing like six episodes due to Music issues.

I think those PF episodes are there now. I wish they'd put more DEK shows on DVD. And honestly, I wish they'd just put them all out right away in Complete Series sets as releasing 1 season at a time usually leaves us with unfinished series.

Wonder why the PF holdup. They had even less music than CH. Wish they'd just get them out already. Or at least get the rest up on Hulu.
