What amazing talent in this show

You can go down the full cast list, and at least the first 21 (through Alan Rosenberg) are well-known, accomplished actors. Some have gone in different directions; Peter Berg is primarily a director now, and Mae Whitman (whom I don't think I'm familar with) is primarily a voice actor. But most are still acting very full time, often in lead roles. Of that group of 21, only Jayne Brook (who has always been one of my favorites) isn't getting much work anymore; maybe it's by choice. I'm particularly pleased that Hector Elizondo is still maintaining a full schedule at age 76.

And even beyond the top 21, there are many others who have had long, successful acting careers, such as Roma Maffia and the now-deceased Ron Silver, although they didn't have many appearances on Chicago Hope.

Anyway, I just wanted to verbalize something I've been thinking for a long time. This show was absolutely stocked with acting talent, even if the writing was often over the top, sometimes brutally so.

Mae Whitman is actually in a lot of non-voice roles. She's a regular on NBC's Parenthood.
