Is Piers American?

When he speaks, he sounds different to me, but I can't figure out why. I think he might be American, but I'm not entirely sure...Does anyone know? Gary Parker, the actor's, profile on IMDB has no information about him at all...

The character definitely has an American accent. I don't know about the actor but to me he sounds like the real thing.

Just watching the Christmas turkey episode and Piers talks about his family in Vermont. Definitely from the States

It's a BBC-American accent. Think Kate Winslet in Titanic.

I'm in the US and I think that Piers sounds like (the actor who plays him) is actually an American. Many of the Brits I've heard using an American accent (for more than just a line or two) have a very specific style that if listened to carefully does not ring true to me.

Of course, on the whole, Brits (IMHO) do a far better American accent than Americans do a British one. And most of the American versions of Irish accents are almost laughable (at least of those I've heard).

I've noticed many British actors overcompensating the "r" sound when doing American accents. Most Australian actors do a convincing, if generic, American accent; when I saw Simon Baker on a talk show, the host asked him what part of America his character in The Mentalist was from, and he said he was doing well to sound like he was from between the Atlantic and Pacific.
