Okay, but a lot of flatulence

The series could have easily been 3 hours shorter. After about Jackie Robinson story, the documentary seemed to lose its focus and became a series of little vignettes without a strong narrative flow: "this happened and then this guy was great hitter and then this happened and yada-yada-yada." The low point was George Will yapping about Stan Musial and the "most beautiful record in sports" being that Musial had 1815 hits at home AND 1815 hits on the road. Uh, George, I think I would put that in the category of the "most boring record in sports."

Also the hosannas to the great sport of baseball went over the top at many points. For example, we often heard something like this:

Self-important guy: "What makes baseball unique is that you can play it outdoors in nature in the cool green grass. It can be played in the Spring. It can be played in the Summer. It can be played in the Fall. It can't be played in the Winter, but that is good because the human soul needs a season for dreaming."

Charming for the first several episodes but pretty gassy by the end. Hey Ken, sometimes less is more.
