Read this if you are confused on the plot due to the atrocious subbing.

Hi all,

I've read quite a few comments/posts about the confusing plot and I just wanted to do my best to explain it because Cantonese is my second language.
I understand why people who do not speak Cantonese would be lost because the subbing is soooooooo bad. I cringe when I watch most chinese movies (especially HK movies in the 90's) because the subs cover about 50% of what is actually going on and sometimes the subs don't even match what is actually being said.

Ok, here goes...

The reason why Chinese audiences accept the concept of these people flying in the air is because of Chi. Chi kung is the practice of manipulating and strengthening your Chi.
Of course it is exaggerated but martial arts masters are able to control thier Chi to a certain extent.
When they sub Brother and Sister, it doesn't mean that they are actually related. It is the same as when men join a group together(clan, monastary, martial arts team) and call each other Brother so and so...
Man(thousand), Sing(Star), Wun(Cloud), Elder Sister Ko(in this case, high/above),
Brother Yip(leaf and surname) and HawChing(Haw=River/surname Ching=refreshing/pure) are all orphans who survived by themselves as a group/team by becoming martial arts masters.
Sister Ko is tough and smart and has always acted as their "Mother", protector and the one who arranges their assignments.

She has always loved StarCloud ever since they were kids but he never loved her as anything more than an older sister and so she is extremely jealous of Butterfly and acts bitchy towards her.

Brother Yip has always loved Sister Ko but she has never felt that way about him and so he drinks and is careless on missions so that Sister Ko will take care of him. He is shy and too serious but he has a good heart.

StarCloud and Butterfly are in love and they live together.
Butterfly thinks that StarCloud is a clumsy merchant who doesn't know any martial arts because she hates the martial arts world. He wants to leave that world and live peacefully with her and so he tells Sister Ko that this will be his last mission.

Here is a summary of the martial arts plot.

Sister Ko takes an assignment from a grand Eunich who has great political power. The assignment is to retrieve a letter(for proof) sent to Seun by Li (clan masters), detailing a rebellion against the King and his dynasty so that they can control the martial arts world.
She sends StarCloud on the assignment and they fake his death because he is a famous martial arts master and this helps with his secret identity as he infiltrates the "Elites Villa" by impressing Suen, who is the master there, so that he can get close to him and steal the letter.

StarCloud finds out that Seun's favorite mistress is HawChing who has been missing for ten years right around the time that "Elites Villa" tried to attack and take over "Happy Forest". StarCloud finds out that Sister Ko has sent HawChing on that mission ten years ago because Sister Ko has always wanted revenge on the "Elites Villa".

In the end, the grand Eunich has long ago killed Li and has been impersonating him because he wants to control the world of martial arts by creating drama and passing on inside information to the different clans.
All the fighting amongst the different clans has been arranged by him so that they can kill each other and make it easy for him to climb to the top.

I'll pass on explaining the rest of the story because I think the love story is easy to understand.
