Throwing your voice

This kind of ruins the movie for me. Painted in the walls part was cool. And how he’d do little things to her apartment to let her know he’s been there. This was all good stalker stuff.

But did everyone involved in making this movie think that throwing your voice actually means making sounds come from somewhere other than your mouth? The guy being in living room while “throwing his voice” to the front door to seem like two people. And then that’s the reason John narrows it down to ventriloquists? I got no problem with the supernatural, or suspension of belief. But the movie isn’t trying to do either, it just acts like this voice throwing is some commonly known ability for ventriloquists.
