Just how old are Wayne and Garth supposed to be?

Mike Myers was a good 30 years old when the film was produced, but Wayne doesn't act anything like that.

I think they are supposed to be in their mid 20s. In the first movie they kept talking about how bogus it was that they still lived with their parents so they couldn't have been that old.

just look up the actors ages, and do the math.

Well, they went to a bar in the first movie so I'd assume they were at least 21 given how strict alcohol laws are in America. Though I could be wrong. I'd have said 21-25 at a guess.

It's hard to say, they act like teenagers, but they do go to clubs which would suggest they're over 21. Although in this movie Garth says that now that he has his own place he can stay up late on school nights. Which would really only make sense for a high schooler. In college you can pretty much do what you want anyway.

I alway thought both were in the 21-25 year old range. The fact that they are going to a bar and to clubs suggests that both, realistically, are over 21.

I'd say they're at least 25/26 in the first movie, otherwise it wouldn't be a big deal that they still live at home. Most people I now didn't move out of their parents house until they were 22/23 (after completing college).

I imagine Wayne is early to mid 20s while Garth is a few years older than him. And not to nitpick, but you can clearly tell Carvey was well into his 30s when these films were made, he's got a bit of a sagging face even in these movies. Garth doesn't look any younger than 30.

But SNL is over the top like that. When Wayne's World was initially brought to SNL, from what I've read, the first season of skits contained Wayne and Garth in high school. That must have been around the late 80s so by the early 90s when the films were released they're probably both suppose to be around 21-23.
