I actually think now could be a good time to think about doing this. Myers has got enough influence these days that he could get it done - and I always liked these movies a lot better than the Austin Powers series. It could be funny to take a slightly different spin on things - see how Wayne and Garth have "grown up". Perhaps they've fallen out of touch, slumped into boring jobs etc, with the third movie somehow bringing them back together.

reply

Lol, the funny thing is today I was thinking of this:

How about Wayne & Garth want the TV show to go national, so they try to negotiate it out, and along the way alot of strange and funny things happen.

reply

Are you a screenwriter? Because this is, by far, the greatest treatment I have ever read for a movie ever.

The idea about Wayne and Garth wanting their tv show to go national is a lot like the plot of the first Wayne's World, except it's: bigger, larger, greater, wider, and overall just a much better idea. And I can only imagine what these "strange and funny things" are.

Brilliant work, you got the job.

reply

Yeah, genius idea, that's gold. I'm sure it will just write itself. I seriously doubt wayne's world would do very well in this day and age. Time has passes and with drastic change. Take a good look at the music of today, then put it next to the music of the early 90's. Yeah wayne's world will work in this pop/rap/r&b age, NOT!

However, I do think if they ever do a Waynes World 3, that Wayne and Garth should be complete Polar opposites of who they were in the original films. Both working desk jobs with a clean cut look and business suit to go along. There show will have been cancelled due to finacial difficulties (something like wayne and garth both having to support children), and replaced by some Christian prayer group show, or an infomerical for hair cream. They would both be the epitome of every old classic rock fan, looking his nose down at the modern music of today.Yada Yada Yada, they save Rock n Roll in another series of adventures. Throw in a naked indian, a dead rock legend, a slick buisness man, and you got yourself a movie. Cut and Print.

reply

i agree with fmagg19, regarding the fact that today's music has changed. in fact, today's music sucks!! (not the point though) however, i rather the idea posted by blueheaven, in which Wayne and Garth have both fallen out of touch, and somehow meet again. from this reunion, they could decide to once again have their tv show, and begin to influence people in returning the the music of the early 90's. after all, lets face it, aerosmith from 10-20 years ago is sooo much better than today... this is also applicable to bon jovi, red hot chili peppers, metallica, pearl jam, and numerous others...

reply

WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!!!???
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a GREAT band! The others kinda suck, but the Peppers are great. And I hope you realize that they've been around since before...the first Wayne's World was made. They're on their way to being classic. And Aerosmith is NOT that good. They're a good band yes, but a better band is say...Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, or The Ramones...I could go on if you wanted me to. There are plenty of great ROCK bands today, just like there were in the early '90s, '80s, and '70's. And some really bad stuff happened in the '90s too. Like Vanilla Ice.

I'm not sure a Wayne's World 3 would be a good idea, it'd run the risk of critics reaming and saying it's a "Has-Been" movie and such. Which would be crap. But anyways, I like all the previous idea. Especially rescuing America from today's dumb rap and hip-hop trends, and bringing us back to good ol' rock. And Today's music does NOT suck, you just don't listen to the write bands.

And The Red Hot Chili Peppers are better than Aerosmith. Especially Red Hot Chili Peppers from 10-20 YEARS AGO.

reply

Wayne & Garth should both be adults stuck in crappy jobs when they meet up again and try to get their show back on the air.

Also, the music change is a GOOD thing. Wayne & Garth are metalheads, and just think of all the jokes they can make while in a music store or club due to this. Now that they're grown up and grown out of their teenage behavior, music, TV show, etc, once they try to go back, everything will be differant. Can just imagine the first time they get back together and go to a club and a pop song come on and the looks on their faces. Plus, they have to go to the junkyard, where far in the back covered in weeds, they buy back, the Mirth Mobile.

reply

Hey, Wayne's World 3 would be great. A touch of make-up. And hey, it dosn't have to take place in the 2000s. It could take place back in the '90s. I'd watch it if both Dana and Myers returned. It help weigh my decission if Cassandra came back. Hey, it could work if Myers does his part.

reply

I TOTALLY agree with you here! Coping with the change of music culture and their aging bodies would be hilarious but would also shine some heart on the series. Gosh have you ever heard of the Fubar series? The sequel Fubar: Balls to the Wall is coming out soon and the trailer looks freakin hilarious!! It makes me think of what Waynes World 3 COULD HAVE been and also the main character remind me so much of Wayne and Garth. Im so excited to check it out bc we may not have to dream about Waynes World 3 anymore!!!

Arguing about whether Aerosmith is better than RHCP is like arguing whether you'd rather eat *beep* or get a paper cut on your eyeball, neither is really that good.

reply

Aerosmith Is Way better than the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Who aren't that great by the way. and they are better than Bruce springsteen and the ramones.

I think it would be fun with a new waynes world or anyway somekind of movie in that kind of style, most comedies to day are way 2 dramatic, or just not as funny. and most of the comedies today are too repetive.

reply

Sigh, when people start saying RHCP are better than Aerosmith i just stop reading. Fking idiots.

reply

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have gone WAAAAY downhill since their early days.. and Vanilla Ice was not that bad a thing. THat song owned the world for a few months and I still get requests very often to play it. Bad stuff in the 90's can be related more to many a things.. But not Vanilla Ice!

Perhaps Wayne & Garth are forced to change the format of their show to accomidate the change in music and they are bashed by the remaining rock fans until they set out on a quest to revive real rock and roll again. They bring in a few of the newer groups and a great classic one for a great Waynestock 2
That totally revamps the music scene. Throw in Cassandra and Crucial Taunt and like it was said above, a slick businessman and a lot of hurl jokes.. Waynes World 3 is born.. However after this long a wait, it will have to somehow be epic in order to get any real attention. The MTV awards had my hopes way up!

reply

Wayne's World gets replaced by The Church Lady. Dana Carvey playing both parts!!!

Thanks! I thought it'd be an average story.

Actually, I'm a director, not a screenwriter... Amateur films of course, I haven't made any yet but you can learn about my first film here: www.geocities.com/bwthemovie

reply

you're an amateur director with no movies on the record?

Let me guess, you're 13, you own a camera and you and some silly friends of yours are making a movie so that you might impress some girl you like or maybe to become "cool".

Yeah sounds like it, especially considering your site being on GEOSHITTIES.

reply

Actually, 15.

We do own a camera... 3 actually.

We're making movies because it's fun to make things.

Why so harsh?

reply

Hello. I'm Cappy's (dbfan12's) partner in crime. The screenwriter. Who never writes anything. Because Cappy cramps my creativity. Lol. But seriously, why are so grumpy? Some shove a broom up your butt or something? Making dumb home movies is fun. Even though I don't like alot of Keenan ideas, it's still fun and SOMEWHAT of a learning experience, considering someday I want to write for movies seriously. (Books too, like Elmore Leonard. He's the best.) So you can just go sit on a tack. And no, it's not to impress girls. Good idea though. I could show off my ripped abs. One more thing, I doubt most of Hollywood's good directors and writers were all that normal in High School; they prolly did some similar things to. Look at Peter Jackson for God's sake! His looks scream nerd. Awesome director, and his adapted screenplay for LotR rocks. So once again, go sit on a tack.

reply

"Look at Peter Jackson for God's sake! His looks scream nerd. Awesome director, and his adapted screenplay for LotR rocks."

His looks scream nerd? And YOU'RE a writer? Jesus, I weep for the future of film. I'm a film student myself, but I am 20 years old and in college. I hate to be brutally honest, but picking up a camera and filming things impromptu does not make you a "filmmaker," no matter what the artsy people say.

Film is a theater art, which has rules and structure like everything in life. You need to learn that stuff to be considered a filmmaker, at least to some critics. And don't call yourself a director if you've never directed anything... thats crazy! Same for screenwriting. Write something.

Also, the music on your website is tacky and annoying.

Waynes World 3 is a terrible idea.

P.S. Peter Jackson did not adapt LotR by himself. He did it along with two other writers. Return of the King BLEW anyway.

reply

Oh come one lighten up you can def. call yourself a filmmaker, I mean here's a nice quote from Robert Rodriguez:
"Okay, so you wanna be a film-maker?
(Class choruses 'YES')
Wrong! You ARE a film-maker. The moment you think about that you want to be a fillm-maker you're that. Make yourself a business card that says you're a film-maker, pass them out to your friends, soon as you get that over with and you've got it in your mind that you're one you'll be one, you'll start thinking like one. Don't dream about being a film-maker, you are a film-maker. Now let's get down to business."

Seriously, there are a lot of people becoming famous in the movie world and not going to film school. It's almost an archaic anyway, yeah you get to learn about the functions of a camera and etc, but real world training is just as cool if not better. It seems Jackson himself didn't do film school, nor did Quentin, Spielberg quit and Rodriguez didn't go, Lucas went and look where he is as did F.F. Coppola and his greatest achivement was 30 years ago...

Return of the King was one of the best movies ever, so what Jackson didn't adapt it himself, he didn't write the plot nor the story nor the book either. Doesn't mean he's a bad filmmaker.

I do agree that Waynes World 3 right out of the box wouldn't be a good thing, but if maybe Mike and Dana got together and started doing skits again and re-working it a bit, meaning updating and etc, it might work. It might...

reply

Abolutely not, Mike and Dana could not make a Waynes World 3 that would live up to it's prequels... ever. And don't put words in my mouth. I never said you had to go to film school to be a filmmaker; I simply said you can't run around with your teenage buddies and consider yourselves filmmakers. That quote you posted from whatever movie it was was ridiculous.

Also, TONS of people would argue with your statement that Return of the King was the best movie ever. It wasn't as good as the first two and the end was terrible and drawn out 45 minutes too long.

reply

First of all, ever read the LotR books?
Second of all, I pretty much agree with what you say about filmmaking, I don't consider myself a real filmmaker, sorry if that post contained misleading braggadacio. I'm just highly interested in filmmaking, enough so that I'll prolly study it college, and I'm LEARNING about screen writing. I can say with most confidence that when it comes to fiction, short stories and novellas and the like, that I can prolly write knots around you, when so inspired. I said Peter Jackson's looks scream nerd because they do, I was pointing out to a guy who made fun of a friend of mine on the board that prolly alot of filmmakers are nerdy kids, and I used him for an example because most people know LotR and Peter Jackson, and he's an awesome example.

So. Good luck with your whole high and mighty snobby movie opinon thing.

"So I uh, suppose that's your friend in the wood chipper."

reply

A lot of folks have posted stuff like this - here was my response:

I'm sorry but I don't buy that plot sir. Garth would've totally stayed current regarding technology - at the time of the flick the internet was inching its way in. There's no way he wouldnt catch on to the audio/visual mess of internet of today. In fact, I'm sure he was even one of those dudes that was using a modem simply to talk back and forth to a select group of geeks, as well possinly useing it to buy movie tickets. Garth would stay current regarding tech stuff, and Wayne would be the show's viral, guerilla marketing guy, with his outgoing personality. A better, and quite realistic storyline would be something having to do with their access station shutting down do to lack of support from the town and lack of funding from the cable company - therefore they turn to the internet, to Garth's delight. Wayne would certainly get a myspace page, where he would pimp out the show to much younger fans, what with young teenagers' fascination with 80's and early 90's pop culture coming into fashion, it seems. That reminds me - *beep* selling re-print Ninja Turtles t-shirts at Hot Topic - I want a WayneStock shirt!
One of the reasons I love Wayne's World so much is not just being able to relate to the charactors and culture, but also because I work with video and in TV, and have done stuff in public access cable. If these flicks have a sort of cult following, I would hope that word of how cool this "franchise" is gets around to younger people and it becomes a trendy thing - not that that would really be a positive thing but when I see TMNT, Transformers and The Goonies pastered all over new merchandise, I wonder where the Wayne's World stuff is.

Somthing new I have to add, regarding how you think they would be polar opposites today - I think it is a funny concept for a comedy sketch, but as a whole movie it wouldnt work. Its kind of a one note gag. I think its more realistic, when you look at how strong both Wayne and Garth's personalities are, that Wayne's outgoing nature and knack for witty verbiage and Garth shyness would either have gotten stronger, or tamed down a bit since 93. I do agree with the concept of them still dressing the same and listening to the same music - what would now be definably classic rock.

reply

I am actually quite happy with the way music is today, it is very diverse.
I am not a fan of "Pop" music or Rap and it's affiliates.
However I do like Rock, and it is big right now. Bands like Nickelback, Darkness, White Stripes, Billy Talent, Danko Jones, Finger Eleven, etc, etc Are really doing a good job, and I don't even like most of those bands.
Even bands that have been around for a long time like RHCP and Tool are still producing good music.

Either way, the real reason why we are here.

Wayne's World 3, maybe before, like 2 years after Wayne's World 2 came out, just because those characters were not really forgotten at that time. I am not saying that they are forgotten now, at least not by the posters on this thread, but some people recognize Mike Myers as Austin Powers now, instead of Wayne, you know what I mean?

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see another Wayne's World movie. But it just won't happen. Oh well.

reply

and that is why things really suck,i would love to see a ww3,but like you and a few other of you have been saying,it will never happen

reply

What the hell is wrong with you people? Wayne's World and WW2 were FANTASTIC movies but haven't we learned anything from "Dumb and Dumberer," "Terminator 3," and "Freddy Vs. Jason?" Sequels made more than 10 years later SUCK.

It would be no good without Mike and Dana, and even if it starred them, it would STRUGGLE to be decent because the two actors are OLD now. Yes, they are funny, but in a different way.

I also agree with the music argument. What will they rock out to? Music, comedy, and the English language is different now than it was in 1994. Let's enjoy WW for what it was, and always will be. But please, let it rest in peace.

reply

jayk1983 has a wonderful point. I mean, has anyone ever seen Fern Gully 2? Dude, that movie sucked. Sequels always suck when they wait too long, they don't use the same actors, or the plot just blows in general.
I love Wayne's World and would have loved to have seen a sequel in like, '94 or '95, but it's just been too long.
It's not a problem of a lost fanbase for the first two movies or for '90's rock either, it's just the fact that they waited.
There are so many people, even people my age (13-14), who were toddlers when the first two movies came out, that *LOVE* the movies and the music. Led Zeppelin, Motley Crew, Aerosmith (sucked, but people like them), Alice Cooper, all of those people still have an incredible young fan base. If you don't believe me, go to any Middle School in America! We love them!!

T2-7 years after The Terminator very good
Psycho 2-23 years after Psycho but just as good

Evil Dead 2-6 years after Evil Dead and Awesome
The Phamtom Menace-16 years after Return of the Jedi way underrated
Dawn of the Dead(1978)-10 years after Night of the Living Dead(1968) and way better
Dawn of the Dead(2004)-14 years after Night of the Living Dead(1990) and much better
Looney Toons:BIA-7 years after Space Jam way underrated and people say Space Jams a classic this is better
Manos the Hands of Fate 2-Doesn't exist but it'll probably be better

Bad Sequals After 5 plus years
The Birds 2-31! years after the Birds and this sucked worse than Manos
Home Alone 3-5 years after Home Alone 2 and still makes no sense
Home Alone 4-5 years after the crappy Home Alone 3 and still isn't good
Eating John Malkovich-Doesn't Exist but will suck wait a few more years
Dracula's Daughter-5 years after Dracula and this is what I paid 5 bucks for
The Son of Dracula-7 years after ^ and its worse

Garth's Boss: Garth, Take these to make copies, you put on in the master file, one comes back to me, and you keep a copy

Garth: Ok

*Garth is walking by and hears something familiar, Aerosmith's "Dude looks like a lady"*

*Garth looks in the cubicle and there is a fresh faced, just barely out of highschool jamming*

Garth: Hey man, Aerosmith, they were a great band, I used to listen to them back in the day.

*Garth gets no answer*

Garth: Hey! I Said Aerosmith rules!

*still no answer*

*Kid unplugs headphones from computer, turns out he was listening to "Get Low" by Lil jon and the eastside boys*

Garth: This song is good!
Kid: What Get Low? Yeah I know
Garth: No. Dude looks like a lady.
Kid: (laughing) Man, get with time, Aerosmith is soooo early 90's
Garth: Well they still kick ass
Kid: They suck.

(Kid and Garth get into an arguement, in which they both get fired when the boss sees them fighting)

*As they are unpacking their belongings from they're desks*

Kid: You know what, you wouldn't last a day in this age, with the new music and all

*They take up a bet*
Garth: Only under one condition
Kid: What's That.
Garth: That I can bring an old friend along
Kid: Sure bring anyone

*Cut to Garth knocking on Wayne's front door, dressed in something he would be dressed in back in 1992*

*Old Lady answers door*

Garth: Hi. Is Wayne here?
Old Lady: WAAAAAAAAAYNE! There's a hoodlem here to see you!
*Wayne comes to door*
*Wayne has a few flashbacks...*
Wayne: Oh my god. Garth.
*Garth explains bet*
Garth: SO will ya help me?
Wayne: Garth, yes i will...We will win that bet, oh yes....we will win that bet....

*Cut to title screen* Wayne's World 3*

Mike Meyers said in an interview (in 2002) that he would like to make Waynes World 3, but won't because he's too old. Also, as someone has already mentioned on here, Mike and Dana fell out years ago. Dana claims Mike's Dr Evil character was stolen from one of Danas SNL impersinations.

reply

There is no market for Wayne's World 3. The characters are dated. The fan base is too old. The young ticket buyers have never heard of these films or remember the Myers era on SNL. No studio would greenlight it.

Don't get me wrong, I love Wayne. But 2 will have to do.

49 YEARS OLD!

Actually Dana is 56 this year

reply

Totally old thread here, but I would have to agree with what most people have been saying. It's too dated, and they're too old.

What I think makes more sense is that it **would have been great** if they'd done a Wayne's World 3 at the time, but now they've missed their chance. The only way a third one would be good now would be if it was still done in a 90s setting, in my opinion.

reply

I agree with most of you that Wayne's World 3 would never work. The characters are indeed outdated and the youth of today would never go for it. I mean, everybody knows that only people under 20 go and see movies.

And now that my sarcasim is out of the way...Wayne's World 3 would work for the plain and simple fact that almost all 20-something males (the target Wayne's World audience), are very nostalgic for things from their past, and would go out in droves to see another installment (As long as they don't go the way of the Dumb and Dumber sequel).

Besides, it would be great to use the characters of Wayne and Garth as an outlet to vent our frustrations about todays Pop/Rap induced culture. I'm sure those two would be as sick of it all as I am.

On a side note, someone should kill pop music the way they did with the whole "Disco Sucks" campaign. If some popular disc jockey (or better yet someone from MTV, or do they even still play music?) would speak up about the fact that todays music is rubbish, I think that the kids of today would buy it. It's not like they care about the music anyway, most of them just like it cause it's considered "cool" or "in" (or maybe it does sound good to them, what with all the oxycodone these kids are ingesting these days).

The same thing could be done with rap too, but I would'nt try it from fear of getting shot down in a hail of gangsta-bullets. ;)

reply

If you guys want a Wayne's World 3(i do too) then why not sign up to one of those Petition Online things, that COULD work depending on how many people can be bothered to sign it..

It would be cool if Wayne and Garth ran into Jay and Silent Bob in Wayne's World 3.

"And now that my sarcasim is out of the way...Wayne's World 3 would work for the plain and simple fact that almost all 20-something males (the target Wayne's World audience), are very nostalgic for things from their past, and would go out in droves to see another installment (As long as they don't go the way of the Dumb and Dumber sequel)."

I'm a 20-something male, and could not possibly agree more. I'm dissapointed in what's pop culture today - granted the early 90's may have seen a mess of 70's and 80's rehashes, etc, compared to today it rocked. Think of the music and movies - no matter what you think of them by themselves, you look at a band like Nirvana, or even a movie like the '89 Batman: these were "events." People have been white-washed today - it didnt even seem like folks were impressed by Superman Returns. (granted I havent seen it...). I just think a third Wayne's Word would work, as long as it wasnt treated as a parody of itself - it shouldnt be marketed to a younger crowd in that they wouldnt appreciate the seriousness of the culture Wayne World depicts. Just checkout the whole thing with Penelope Spheeris, who directed the first flick, wherein even then what was Heavy Metal was fighting to stay in the forefront, and important she felt it was to preserve the integrity of the culture. She mentions how she direcred "the metal years" and thought that that background helped her a lot. A few of the headbanging scenes were questioned by Myers and maybe Lorne Michaels (as in "why would they be doing that, or why would be show this shot here.") Its all in the details - its still possible for wayne and garth to exist as the same charactors, but in todays setting. Just because they still prefer Black Sabbath or Alice Cooper over something like Killswitch Engage or God Forbid, doesnt mean they arnt metal heads. Those are the charactors - if they did a third one it would be important to keep the charactor's sensibilities the same, at least at the start of the flick.

reply

I'm blueheaven (from above, just changed my username slightly!) who posted the idea about having Wayne and Garth in a new movie where they've lost touch with each other, their identities, and feel trapped in boring, conservative jobs.

Anyway, to those of you who have argued a Wayne's World 3 wouldn't work because they're too old and the music they love is now out-dated - I think you're missing the point! That is exactly why it WOULD work.

I'm not advocating we just try to recreate the first two films by having them carry on exactly where they left off - what I'm saying is, let's do a proper update on the characters. Some scenario puts them back together and they go on a mission to save the world's taste in music - let's face it, a lot of people out there DON'T like modern rap or what is currently passing for R'n'B, and it's surprising that you never really see this mentioned in comedy. Why does hip-hop never seem to get parodied, when it would be so easy to do? The point is that there would be an absolute goldmine of comic material for this movie and these two characters at the moment if they did it properly - and Myers is definitely up to it.

As for the person who commented that it would never get studio backing - if you think that you're living on Cloud Cuckooland! Do you honestly think that a new addition to a popular tried-and-tested franchise, featuring the important members of its original cast (including a cameo for Rob Lowe as a homeless!), and heavily involving a bankable star like Mike Myers, would not get picked up by a studio?? Of course it would!

I agree with blueheaven. The fact that they're old is what would make this totally perfect. It's been less than 20 years so it could be alright. Not to mention they could totally have good commentary on the music scene and the aging rocker scene.. I like it.

Prepare to meet Kali... in hell!

That would be great...but it would have to live up to the other 2. I'd like to see them take the TV show on the road following someone like Aerosmith about ...or maybe Cassandra's band? Witha ll hilarious backstage scenes. In the original SNL TV show, I remember Garth's mom trying to seduce Wayne so that could be kinda funny.

It wont happen. And if it did it would suck.

reply

its too late now of course.

reply

There is that as well.

I kind of hope there isn't a third, because there is the possiblity of them becausing "nu metalheads" because of the 'music's' poplarity.

if written the right way, it could be better than the first two. id say have Garth as a music teacher, & Wayne as a real estate agent. both have families, & the same personalities. they haven't done the show since the mid 90's, & have moved on. one day Garth's class brings to his attention the old show is on you tube, & is very popular. that brings the idea to garth to bring back the show on the net. it becomes a hit & they become friends with all the 80's bands in the underground,(ie. Motley Crue, Cinderella, Poison, & ect), as well as new rockers like Nickelback & such. the villian Benjamin comes back to claim he owns the show. he wants a million dollars to sell them the rights. to do this they create waynestock 2. with Benjamin working against them all kinds of problems arise. in the end it all works out, & they buy the show back. the soundtrack will be so great with new music from those classic bands. i think it could work!!!!!!

reply

uh, they already did.
it sucked balls, which is why not very many people no about it

reply

Hell, they already made a new Rocky movie, why wouldn't they make a third Wayne's World flick?

Besides, there's some tension between Mike and Dana, so there's no chance of seeing a 3rd installment.

reply

You're all stupid. The end.

Mike Myers rolls. I'm a big fan. Hope you will make a waynes World 3 ;)Shwinnng

reply

I loved Wayne's World, can't even remember WW II.

They just too old to go back into that thought process, era, consciousness, etc.
