Better than the next two specials....

Two years later, they came up with the horrible "Walton Wedding" script. This special is more in tune with the original series. Too bad CBS can't find a director to do this series justice, as a reunion. In 2004, just forget the stupid 90s specials, and create a TRUE reunion special, time-appropriate, and well-directed. NOW it CAN be set in the mid-60s, as the actors have aged realistically.

I loved the series, but never saw the reunion movies cause Austrian television never showed them. I don't know why - the Waltons were very pupular here in Europe. I didn't find the movies on Amazon.

You didn't miss much. They were all quite lame. There have been some rumors, that the series will be remade, with a new cast. Would love to see Ralph Waite and Michael Learned as the grandparents, for the sake of nostalgia. "Little House on the Prarie" has been remade TWICE, since that series ended - as TV movies. Ironically, Richard Thomas played Pa Ingles in a few of them. Have you ever seen the film "Spencer's Mountain" (1963)????? It's an early take on "The Waltons," based on Earl Hamner's novel. The original title of "The Waltons" was "Spencer's Mountain."

The is a Waltons museum in Earl Hamner's hometown in Virginia.
