I Don't Know How Old The Boy Is

But there are several things to keep in mind.

In some parts of the world, including Europe, the age of consent is a lot younger than 18. Sometimes 16. Sometimes 15. This movie was not made in the US.

The second thing is that "Lolita" and the remake were made in the US and it was a teenager and an older guy.

OH, that was a teenaged GIRL and that makes everything more acceptable, right?

You also don't know how old this boy really is, he may just look younger and can play a younger teenager.

Just be honest and admit that if this was about a teenaged girl having a relationship with a young soldier around Walt's age - between 18-20, you wouldn't even bat an eyelash.

You have double standards when it comes to gay sex. There, isn't that better.

Sangsue:

In the movie the boy is supposed to be Thirteen years old. In the

Book he is Twelve years of age. However, Rudy states he was Eleven

when he had his romantic encounter with Walt who was 18 (eighteen)

at the time.

He had no regrets except that he never found him again.

I'm going to assume you don't live in the US. In that case, I can ensure you that a teenage girl with an older man is not considered any more acceptable then a young boy and an adult. Had Vladimir Nabokov made Lolita a 12 year old BOY, his novel would have still been very controversial. The same goes for Stanley Kubrick's age change in his adaptation.

I'll be honest and tell you that the double standard (if there is any) is the complete opposite. I've found that when a guy has had sex at age 12 with an adult male or female, very little is made of it. However, if it's a young girl, then people freak out over it. This is probably because don't demand a lot of sympathy for their poor innocence disappearing.

The only real prominent double standard I am aware of is that when a male confesses he was molested, people don't cuddle around him with sympathy as heavily as they do around females.

In terms of media, I don't know what double standards you're talking about. Last I looked, people were equally upset over a female teacher having sex with a minor male students as a male teacher having sex with a minor female.
