What's the Year?

What year does the story take place in? It looks like the early '60s.

It's pretty easy to think that the movie is set in the early sixties because of the diner, the uniforms and so on. I actually think it's set in the eighties because of the way Caroline and her friends dress outside of work plus the music that's played at the nightclub.

The movie came out in 1993 so I just figured it was set in that time. but it does have a very older feel to it. Especially in the beginning with the black and white and Nat King Cole song Nature Boy. Loved this movie all of it.

One thing that I really, REALLY noticed about this film after viewing it for the first time in about 9 years last week, is how well Marisa pulls off the 'Minnesotan' accent. I never realized her voice was playing Minnesotan, but she definitely got her vocal skills down for that part, and the geography of the movie.

This is really one of those little gems that come along once every five or ten years...box office sleeper, but always does well on premiums and rebroadcasts.

After seeing Marisa in Anger Management last night, she is timeless. She ages very gracefully.

I think the part she played in this movie is underrated; I liked her in "My Cousin Vinny", but this is two times better...

I agree. This movie is wonderful. The first time I watched it was when I was about 8 with my mom (who is a big Christian Slater fan). I watched it again a few weeks ago and realized what a great movie it was. Indeed, movies like this only come around once in a while.

Marisa is a great and timeless actress. She is also one of the most underrated ones.

What are we doing all this running for? Arent we all gonna be in cars? -Kuffs
