The lion scene

I just looked up something, and it said that Pit was in Cannibal Holocaust as himself, and the Italian film that the lion scene was apparently being confused with[As himself yet again] then he was in this as himself. Uh...any ideas what this might mean? Was he killed while filming the Italian scene or is it a fake?
