Suicide

I was really little when i saw this and I'm not sure if it was this of Faces of Death. Anyways, the scene was this guy was at some kind of banquet and pulled out a gun. He then said this isn't going to hurt me but it will hurt you and he shot himself. Was it this movie, and was it real?

Sounds a bit like the Bud Dwyer suicide, though the details differ - of course, you were younger back then, so you may remember it differently. The Bud Dwyer is, as far as I know, on the vast majority of death videos as it the man shot himself on a live news broadcast and the footage is therefore widely available. Not sure if it is on this particular volume though, the experts may be able to help. If it was the Bud Dwyer suicide though, it certainly was real. Just Google around for some info on it.

You're talking about Budd Dwyer, he was the treasurer from Pennsylvania who shot himself on live television in 1987.

reply

R.Budd Dwyer RIP. America & especially American law is totally *beep* up.

reply

Not to sound mean, but it's his fault for killing himself and breaking the law. He should have just accepted doing time. And he probably would have had a really good lawyer so he probably wouldn't have done too much time in prison.

reply

Actually, he had been convicted and was to be sentenced the next day. The minimum jail time he faced was fifty-five years in prison. Budd Dwyer was forty-eight at the time.

reply

He claimed he was innocent, but had no way to prove it. So by killing himself it basically tells me he was guilty 100%. Since he was still in office at the time of death, his family did get quite over a million dollars if I remember correctly. He was smart and hooked up his family. Go Bud! Man, I remember the blood spill out of his nose. Pretty horrific.

reply

when you see the top of is skull hanging down ver his face an the blood coming back down through his nose
gross

it is sick *beep* like you that make me not want to watch this...a possible innocent man was going to go to prison for at least until he was 90...he decides to take his own life and you 'jerk it' to that...I hope something bad happens to you

reply

Well, something evidently did if he's jerking to a man shooting himself in the head.

reply

I think its SO sad that Dwyer felt so trapped by the law that he turned to doing this, isnt the law there to protect us? Poor guy.

reply

I wonder if the jerk off guy really did jerk off. How could someone find that sexual? Strange.

Well i dont think someone should be sentenced to over 50 years for stealing money, they should have to work to pay it back or whatever, sentences like that should be given to rapists and murderers who sometimes don't get near that much, the law is BS.

reply

Bud Dwyer, didn't have to "prove his innocence". It's the states responsibility to do the proving, and they did so by offering a plea deal to one of the other defendants who has since recanted his testimony. It's a shame when you have that kind of misconduct going on, and its worse when it sullies a mans reputation.

SSaxdude, str8xxx and kanto_wanderer, R. Budd Dwyer was innocent. Watch Honest Man; The Life of R. Budd Dwyer and feel bad about yourselves. If you aren't as spineless as you make yourselves out to be, you'll have the courage to watch the movie, come back to this thread and say, "He was innocent. I was wrong. This really is tragic."

You accept someone will kill themself if they’re guilty, but you won't accept someone might kill themself if they are innocent but are being punished as if they are guilty? Hmm. I wish I was as oblivious as you all are to have that much faith in the system. In a way, I envy your ignorance.
