Tout ca pour ca! (all that for this..?)

Claude Lelouche is the best French director and probably one the best directors in the history of cinema....
I enjoyed every second of this memorable comedy mixed with satire and some sadness about real lives of ordinary people; the last quest of three desperate men with broken hearts who crossed paths as roommates in a hospital when their suicide attempts failed. Together they decided to steal their lives and at least the remaining part of their happiness back and smuggle them out of France into Canada for a frech new beginning... (all with good intentions, in the name of family, fatherhood, love and passion).

And of course, when the three men are caught, their fate indirectly gets connected with the lives of their lawyers; a couple; a sexy woman, her hysterically funny husband who is passionately in love with her, her lover (the judge), and the judge's attractive wife who is heart-broken and aware of the extramarital affair...

The soundtrack makes this movie even better and takes you to the streets of Paris, countryside France and cool early evenings in a nice restaurant on the Meditranean beach... you will sing, dance, laugh, feel sad (but hardly cry) with the characters of this mvoie.... and their stories...

I loved it when I first saw this movie on the big screen in Montreal in 1994. I bought it on VHS the day it was released... now I am desperately looking for the original Soundtrack and just can't seem to find it in North America or online anywhere... especially that irresistibly-deep-French voice of Philippe Leotard and his tune "tout ca pour ca"...

Movies like this one are like ethnic food or Dry French wine... you have to develop taste buds for them, then you become hooked. If you are familiar with the French culture then it becomes easier to like comedies with a sad touch and a modified satiric version of American "Happy ending"... , like the one in Tout Ca Pour Ca....

two thumbs up!
