Thanks to Richard Lester's direction, this rubbish gets played on TV!
I hate Richard Lester. But I love Michael York and Oliver Reed and it is them that make the 1973 version, Lester was the weak link as he was throughout his career.
Even in England, every time I see The Three Musketeers listed in the TV guide, it is this awful "American cast version" rather than the York/Reed one. If it were not for Lester's cack-handed direction and his woeful sense of humour, this 1993 version would never see the light of day! The cast are pale imitations and can't hold a candle to the 1973 version... ,
