Thanks to Richard Lester's direction, this rubbish gets played on TV!

I hate Richard Lester. But I love Michael York and Oliver Reed and it is them that make the 1973 version, Lester was the weak link as he was throughout his career.

Even in England, every time I see The Three Musketeers listed in the TV guide, it is this awful "American cast version" rather than the York/Reed one. If it were not for Lester's cack-handed direction and his woeful sense of humour, this 1993 version would never see the light of day! The cast are pale imitations and can't hold a candle to the 1973 version... ,

Richard Lester, I despise you.

Lester delivered a cracking version!

This version is considerably better than the 2011 film.

Tell me something: Is there someone holding a gun to your head, forcing you to watch this movie?

If you hate this movie so much, here's an idea: Don't watch it! Watch something else!

I don't understand the OPs Problem either. If you don't want to watch a movie just switch off the TV or change the channel. Besides, nowadays you can easily buy a DVD of the version you prefer and can watch it anytime you want, whether it's the Lester version, this Disney version, the Micky Mouse version, the one with Gene Kelly, the 2011 version, the recent TV series or Dogtanian - there are plenty of different versions for different tastes.
Plus I don't understand his/her hatred for Richard Lester, as I think he's a great director (possibly among my personal top 10) who made some very good films, but that of course just my personal opinion.

Gunpoint, forced viewings of The Three Musketeers were a big problem in the mid-90's. Thankfully it's died down since then.

I like the 1993 version and love the idealistic hopeful tone which sets up TMITIM 1998 version perfectly.

I love the '73 movie but I also like this one a lot.
