Paul McGann

Who is the other character Paul McGann plays besides Girard? it says it's someone named Jussac but I can't find him.

reply

Jussac is the Cardinal's guard that D'artagnan killed by the ruins--the head guard.

V for Vhaidra.

reply

Oh yeah... Thanks! ^_^

Does anyone know why he was cast as 2 unrelated characters?

reply

Hmmm........the budget was blown on the costumes?

I was so impressed with Paul. Having only really known him from the Hornblower series, where he played such a serious, professional character, I was shocked when I realized I didn't recognize him in this film. Totally different character.

Arrr! Math be hard! Let's go shopping!

Too much Paul McGann is never enough.

This is the correct answer. ;)

"Oh, marvellous. You're going to kill me. What a finely-tuned response to the situation."

Maybe they wanted to cut down on the choreography budget. Rather than train Chris O'Donnell to fight someone else, they used Paul McGann again.

reply

Ah yeah, that makes sense. Too bad Jussac was killed so early in the movie. When I realised he was also played by Paul McGann I was like, yummy more McGann! And then d'Artagnan killed him, grrrr :(

reply

Holy Crap! That's Golic (from Alien3)! I didn't recognize him with hair.

I know this because Tyler Knows this.

This is a childhood fav of minel, and I always thought the character of Gerrard was hilarious. When I later got into Doctor Who, I was amazed when I found that Paul McGann, who played the eighth incarnation of the Doctor, was in this Even more funny was the role he played!!

I never really knew who he was until the whole Queen of the Damned thing and he was wonderful to watch. That made me look for him in other movies as well, but admittedly, if I didn't see him in that, I never would have had an interest in seeing him in anything else.

I met Paul at Melbourne Armageddon Expo last year and asked him about this; he said the Turkish guy who was cast to play Jussac pulled out at the last minute because he was cast in a prestigious Turkish theatre company, so they asked Paul to step in.

Wow! He must have a huge vocal range, to play Jussac with such a deep voice and Gerard with a high-pitched squeal. His mannerisms are also so different for both characters; I'd have never recognized him without reading about it.

Hilariously, McGann would have been a better Musketeer than anyone who actually played them in this movie, save only for Sutherland, perhaps. Yet he regulated to bit parts.
