Was It Really?

Was it really the lowest grossing film of 1993? If it is that's sad isn't it? I don't like to think it's down there with Gigli.

I find it hard to beleive it was a low grossing filim. Its such a good moive and River was in it. And t is a really good movie. I've been watching it since i was a little girl. I always thought river was so cute!

It was a low grossing film?! That shows how poor taste the majority of people have, i suppose. This is great movie! I loved it! and river phoenix was in it, how could it have been bad? Maybe just the idea of country music didn't appeal to many people.. I never liked country, but i find the music in this film bareable, even good. I have Lonestar State Of Mine as my ringtone =P

The taste of the majority had no effect on this movie; it was never given a wide release. I managed to see it when it played for two weeks at an art house theater in Chicago sometime in 1993. And on their small screen, in a room that only seats several dozen people. It didn't even play in most cities, and if that's the kind of release it gets in a market this size...I'm surprised anyone got to see it in a theater anywhere. And that was after River died. The studio was just trying to cut their losses. But it's good to see so many people appreciate the movie, so many years later.
