the end

I just saw the movie & it was really good. I only watched it b/c River was in it. I saw "Stand by me" a couple months ago & became ubsesed w/ it. I looked on this sight at the charcter & found out that River died & how. I started watching all the movies he was in. Besides "Stand by me", this one in one of his best. But anyways, I wounder if they got a devorce. Did they all just be good friends? And it was funny to find out that the movie they saw in the drive-in happened to them; two guys liking the same girl.

Yes, it is a really great movie. I am also a big fan of River's and I think Standy by me is an excellent movie as well. It's a huge shame that The thing called love had to be his last complete movie because he would have gone far with his acting career.

At the end of the movie they are trying to tell us that James and Miranda DO stay together. I think it was kind of a joke when Miranda talks about "the date to get a divorce". And then in the parking lot she sings Kyle's song to him "So when we meet as friends, my heart will break again." and he says "Yeah, I understand". That's basically letting us know that she has decided that she is staying with James. I loved the ending because it didn't end with the girl picking the other guy, the "underdog", which is so typical with alot of love stories. Even though James and Miranda had their problems you could really tell that they loved one another and did not want to break up.

Miranda was totally serious about getting the divorce, hence why James sort of frowns when she says "we got a date to get divorce". She also makes it clear that she came back for herself, not for James. They made a huge mistake getting married which is why it didn't work out. I saw the ending as Miranda not choosing either Kyle or James but they are all remaining friends.
