This would make a great movie! (SPOILER)

I was blown away by the sadness of it. The poor guy torn away from the US and his new bride by the KGB. The documentary doesn't make clear why he was taken away? I was watching the whole time thinking this would make a great independent film. I didn't know what year this was made until Brian Wilson appeared and it was clearly his "controlled by psychologist" period. Yet, in spite of his difficult articulation I totally got what he meant. It may also be important to take into account he's a survivor of childhood abuse/neglect; I'm not sure his true artistic depth was taken very seriously by his parents. He just struck me as someone incredibly lonely with no one of equal intelligence to speak with; as though there was a backlog of conversations inside of him tumbling to escape.
Watch this documentary!

I just read "Theremin: Ether Music and Espionage," by Albert Glinsky (with the forward by Robert Moog) and the "mystery" of Theremin's abrupt departure from the US is explained. I recommend this book as a good counter balance to this less than fully explored documentary.

I just saw it on TV and I agree that this is a "less than fully explored documentary."

Clara Rockmore was so cute. Leon seemed so taken with her. I wondered if there was any romance between Leon and her? Does anybody know?

And yes, it would make a great movie.
