book vs. movie

I am using this book for a class and was just wondering how similar the book is to the movie. Are they pretty much the same? I was going to rent the movie, but my local video store doesn't carry it so i'm wondering if i should even try to track it down elsewhere. If you could let me know the book compares to the movie, i would appreciate it. Thanks! :)
