You exploited them, horrifically, and they both strayed down the wrong path.

As someone who knew Mark personally (we were classmates at HP), I can say, with absolute certainty, that Mark was headed in the direction that led to his death LONG before he got involved with this film. Though Mark did not come from a broken home, and he was relatively smart (he was in college prep classes just as I was), he still made bad decisions. Oprah is not a savior, nor is she a Svengali. She is human just as we all are. We all have choices. Mark made his. Sadly, his choices resulted in his death.
