I'm not sure how much of it was filmed here (Astoria). My husband and his brother were both in it as villagers or guards or something. I believed it was partially filmed at Tongue Point in some old buildings and I know for sure that it was filmed at the Youngs River Falls outside of Astoria and at Battery Russell in Fort Stevens State Park (Hammond, OR). I was out bike riding and stumbled across filming. It was such a site because, besides fifty Asians dressed in 16th or 17th Century Japanese armor on a bike path in Hammond, Oregon, there were four turtle heads sitting on a table--one was blinking and moving it's "lips". The site of the village at the Falls has changed. They tore out a lot of brush for the movie but in the last several years with the rain the hills have shifted as well as a lot of brush has grown in. It's still beautiful of course. Free Willy was being filmed at the exact same time.

I've never heard about Goonies being filmed at Crater Lake. What part? I knew that they started in Astoria and moved south along the coast--but basically just being in Astoria, Cannon Beach and California near the sound stage.
shareYea def astoria..def where they filmed goonies...there's a seen in tmnt 3 along the coast on the beach...the exact beach where goonies ends an they look out to the sea....also in the seen in tmnt looks like u can see the rocks that they line up the dabloon(spelt wrong) with.

shareI don't know how much they were paid. I was an extra that summer in Free Willy and I was there for about eight hours. My take home was $52 and change I believe. It was 1992 and I don't remember if that was good or bad.
shareIt's just a friggin movie. What, do you think they ACTUALLY fly out to Japan to film it when they can easily get something similar here?
shareactually, none of TMNT was filmed at Tongue Point. I was a student there so I know. they did hire 30-40 Vietnamese and Taiwan's students for extras there
