FILIPINO CAST!!!!

So, I knew that Ernie & his dad are Filipinos. I saw this as a kid but just now realized upon rewatching that Rob Schneider's in it too who is actually half Filipino himself. Anyway, I was trying to find some info on the kid who played Adam, wondering how old he would be now & how he looks, his Asian background, etc. Well, I came by this:

So apparently he is also half Filipino, his mom is Filipina & his father is Scottish!

Also, their mythical Kingdom is SE Asian in a Philippine island while the baddies are the Japanese! They even have some Filipino words mixed in! So nice to see SE Asian even if it's mythical being represented! But wondering if the choice of Filipino cast intentional? Are the writer/director somewhat connected to this community?
