Criterion DVD

I just heard that New Line is licensing "Surf Ninjas" to the Criterion Collection! This is great news! Here are the features:

DISC ONE: THE FILM
-Essay by film historian Jack Meihoff
-1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen
-DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1
-Audio Commentary by director Neal Isreal
-Audio Commentary by stars Ernie Reyes Jr., Rob Schneider, and Tone Loc

DISC TWO: THE SUPPLEMENTS
-Acclaimed documentary "Burden of Dreams: The Making of Surf Ninjas"
-"Money Can't Buy Knives" featurette
-"Potusan Vs. Porto-San" multi-angle featurette
-Tone Loc Music Video
-Theatrical Trailer

This is so awesome, I can't wait to get my hands on this dvd. It's slated to come out in January 2005, so mark your calenders.

I for one am sickened that this fine film is being disgraced by being included in such a poor selection of films. Any savvy video store owner knows the only place to put copies of this film is in the action classics between navy seals and torque. Film distributors stooping to this level to make a quick buck make me very sad indeed. Please, as an action connoisseur, do your part too and lobby against this Criterion decision.

That's so cool! It's after January 2005 now, so do you know where I can buy it?
It's a classic for my brother and I! It would be great to get it on the 2 disc DVD! Where would I be able to buy it?

KWANTZU!!

Don't mock. Given that Criterion have seen fit to releasing Armageddon and The Rock, I wouldn't be surprised if Bad Boys II, and yes, even Surf Ninjas aren't far behind.

Very funny post mind you ;)

I think that dude made it up about the DVD. It sounds so awesome, and I'd totally buy it. But I have a dvd of the movie that came out in 2004 as it is . And if anyone is looking for it, go to best buy, and go to their $5 and under dvd section, it's right there along with 3 ninjas and a million other awesome flicks.

Hello to all. I think people are misunderstanding why some people or rather a lot of people like this film. I saw this movie when i was like 8 or 9 and it's just one of those movies that reminds you of your childhood. It's not a masterpiece and it's really not anything except a part I spent many years ago watching. It's cool, it's great and thats why i like it. NO OTHER explanation is need. DONE!!!

Yeah it wasn't amazingly funny. But the humor is clean and it's really not only me saying this, but the movie was really good and brings back good memories.

Give a guy a gun, he thinks he's Superman. Give him two and he thinks he's God.

I just like to applaud sark for the news, especially the film historian "Jack Meihoff" line. My second favorite was the "Acclaimed documentary," this has to be my all time favorite *beep* because, in fact, it probably is.

Thank God and It's about time.

God, I wish this was real. Let's all just pray a little pray, and maybe it'll happen.

Criterion really was going to release this. I have one of 8 copies that where produced. There was a big fight between New Line and Criterion over the rights over the documentary, so this was shelved.
