Not the worst thing ever

Let me start off by saying that back when I first saw this, I hated it. I didn't like it AT ALL.

But then I thought, "Would a straight adaption of a Mario game really be good?" I seriously doubt that; I really would hate a 90 minute movie of an Italian man jumping on turtles, eating mushrooms and smashing bricks.

And to be fair, this movie really got screwed over. I read a Game Informer article about the making of this movie, and there were daily re-writes and all sorts of awful crap going on behind the scenes.

I'm not saying this is a good movie, but it is interesting at least. I have it on my list of my favorite awesomely bad films, but I think it's just kind of cheesy. Be honest; if this wasn't called "Super Mario Bros" and instead called "Plumbers vs. Lizard Men" or whatever, it would have found a cult audience a lot faster.

I guess I can't defend this too much, but if you really think THIS is the worst film ever, I envy you.
