As a movie, it was pretty decent.

Let's be honest, no one could actually make a film based on the game itself because it's just about going through stages, jumping, dodging and saving a princess so obviously they had to come up with something else.

This film was from my time but back in the 90's I wasn't really aware of it and instead played the NES Mario games though, I'll have to say, the film itself isn't actually bad if you look at it as a 'movie' than a 'movie based on a game' type.

Moving on, I've to say I quite liked all of the cast, the special effects, comedy and overall it was a fun experience watching the movie and not once did I feel disappointed by watching it.

I appreciate that they gave us the true Illuminati message behind the Mario games and not some little kids movie

i took my oldest son to see it when it came out, and I quite enjoyed it. It seemed fairly good to me and no 1 son enjoyed it.

I thought it was enjoyable especially the first 30 mins or so but seemed to get worse as the movie went along. I found the last half hour especially hard to get through. I would have taken out all the parts about the fungus because it was stupid, especially the "Meet my dad. He's a fungus" scene. I'd use mushrooms in place of the fungus that makes Mario bounce back up after falling down the hole. But I liked the different dimension aspect and think they did some interesting things there.

I wouldn't mind if they made it more true to the game story, but overall was a fun movie.

It really is one of these guilty pleasure movies.I loved it when I saw it in the cinema as a little kid, I remember being amazed at Yoshi. As an adult I have nostalgia for it so even if I am aware it is no masterpiece I enjoy it for being a part of my childhood.
