I WORKED IN THE SUBSTITUTE

Only moments remain of Martin Donovan's, the director, intentions. But that's not for me to say. What I carry with me is the actual experience. The best, the most unforgetable. Mark Whalberg was such a surprise. Nothing at all like one would expect. Humble, ultra professional, lots of fun. Martin Donovan told us then: I don't know what's going to happen to this movie, but that kid - meaning Mark - is going to amaze us all.
Martin made us feel as artists, as vital parts of the entire project. I look back at that and reminds me it was over 10 years ago. Certain experiences never grow old. I saw the film on HBO only a few weeks ago on a big screen in HD and it looked so beautiful!

Question:
What was it like to work with MarkyMark?

--I’m the guy who does his job! You must be that other one!
-Departed, MarkyMark

Mark Whalber was great. Humble and professional. Martin Donovan, the director, told us all he'll be not just succesful but a great actor as well.

Ew! I'm sweating like Roger Ebert!

I think GandG was in the film and it may be the twins Glenn and Gary Mauro.
Seems to fit. I still want the DVD

reply

Well it's nearly 20 years now. This was a cool comment to read, I'm sorry to hear the director's true intentions were swept into the cutting room trash bin. I wish executives would trust artistic vision more often. Do you still work in film?
